@okemnachi I love the idea behind this piece tells you how you go through life from being a boy who doesn’t know a thing about the world to the bastard who knows to work hard but not living just surviving and to the gentleman who now understands the world and how it works perfectly. Yeah?
The Boy, the Bastard, and the Gentleman
When I was a boy, I was handed the keys to a kingdom, and God laid a crown on my head.
I moved with my head held high, and my chest was filled with lofty ambitions I didn't fully comprehend.

The Boy, the Bastard, and the Gentleman
When I was a boy, I was handed the keys to a kingdom, and God laid a crown on my head.
I moved with my head held high, and my chest was filled with lofty ambitions I didn't fully comprehend.
I learned some useful lessons. And some painfully expensive ones.
Over the next few threads, I’ll tell you about the gigs, the mistakes, the clients, the scams, the lessons and my experience with trying to make a living as a writer in Nigeria.
Freelancer Chronicles —Introduction
“Hi, Okemnachi. Do you still write?”
This particular question came with my first-ever writing gig over six years ago.
At the time, I was an undergraduate, extremely broke, and just looking for a way to make ends meet.
So, when I answered, “Yes, I still write,” I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into. I didn’t even know people were making money from writing.
That first gig introduced me to a whole new world.
And is now the perfect, reliable hypocrite. Capable of both good and evil, but preaching against evil.
And he is more in tune with the boy who was handed a crown.
The Gentleman:
The gentleman realizes choices come with consequences.
He's discovered there are rules after all.
He has deciphered the chaos and understands the battlefield better now.
The gentleman knows about honour and shrewdness.
