European nations have agreed to boycott the World Cup over FIFA’s plans to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors.

The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the 55 national associations which are members of UEFA, the European football confederation, on Thursday, according to sources with knowledge of the meeting.

The next World Cup in the calendar is the women’s edition in Brazil next summer, followed by the men’s tournament in Spain, Portugal and Morocco in 2030.

Preparing for my Netflix documentary about what it actually takes to earn a real doctorate: years of coursework, comprehensive exams, original research, a successfully defended dissertation, committee reviews, and a degree conferred by an accredited institution of higher learning.

Apparently, in 2026, the radical idea that academic titles should be earned, not performed, is controversial.

Some people rehearse talking points. Others defend dissertations.

Some people build a brand around “Doctor.” Others put in the work to become one.

There is no shortcut to scholarship. There is no influencer path to academic integrity. And there is no substitute for the discipline required to earn the title.

The receipts aren’t in a skit. They’re in the transcript, the dissertation, and the diploma. 🎓

I lowered a puzzle box 81 feet to the ocean floor to see which fish could figure out how to get the bait inside. I was hoping the box would survive the experiment.

A spotted moray eel, sharks, and a pair of massive Goliath groupers all stopped by to investigate.
