How many knew that PSquare started as a dance crew and not a singing group?

I was in Jos when the started. I attended Cocin Secondary school Dadin KOWA and also left and went to Abba Memorial College.

We would leave school after closing hours, run to St Morumba College or St Joseph College in Jos just to watch PSquare Dance. They were never a singing crew.

Peter was the Brain of that operation, that was how he became very close with don flex later.

You know they can lie that Peter did not contribute to the song, which we all know is a lie, but, they can’t deny the fact that the dance that made them popular was and is a credit of @PeterPsquare

Nobody should gaslight fans into believing that Mr. P contributed nothing to P-Square. That narrative has gone on for far too long, and it’s simply not true.

I’ve been a huge P-Square fan since I was a kid. They weren’t just another music group to me they were a major part of my childhood. Alongside Plantation Boys, they were the reason I wanted to make music. I even recorded a cover of No One Like You back in school, and it got a bit of attention.

What made me love P-Square even more was discovering that it wasn’t just Peter and Paul. Jude was heavily involved too. I genuinely loved the idea of three brothers, each bringing different strengths to build something extraordinary.

When they broke up, it hurt. I think many of us who grew up with P-Square felt that loss.

After the split, I naturally found myself relating more to Mr. P. Maybe it’s because his personality is closer to mine… calm, expressive, and performance-driven. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate Rudeboy. I still listen to both of their music today.

I also had my own resentment toward Jude… not because I denied his contribution, but because I believed an elder brother should fight to keep his family together. That’s a personal conviction shaped by my own upbringing. My father always made sure my brothers and I are together because he experienced family conflict himself. As the eldest among my siblings, I have tried to carry that same responsibility.

That said, Emotions aside, I can objectively acknowledge what each brother brought to P-Square.

Rudeboy is an exceptional songwriter and vocalist.

Mr. P is an exceptional performer, dancer, choreographer, singer and entertainer.

Jude played a massive role behind the scenes, especially in shaping the group’s visual identity through their music videos and creative direction.

None of them built P-Square alone. Their individual strengths complemented one another, and that’s what made the brand so powerful.

So let’s stop rewriting history to elevate one person by diminishing another.

I don’t think we’ll ever get P-Square back, and that’s heartbreaking. But what they gave us can never be taken away.

From Get Squared to Game Over, Danger, The Invasion, Double Trouble, and the rest of their catalog, those albums defined an era. Even today, every year, I still find myself going back and playing P-Square for weeks. I can still sing many of those songs word for word.

So this is simply my appreciation post.
