@MartinKnight_ Yes it’s true. My mum was given Mackeson in hospital in the 50s. She used to buy the odd bottle as a pick me up taking most of the week to finish the bottle. It must have tasted awful at the end of the week!😉

@Conservatives Blame me & those like me. 20 years ago I went to the pub at least 3x a week for a “few”. Now I buy my beer in the Supermarket & have the odd drink in my local rugby club. On occasion I’ll eat in a Gastro pub. Times change, cultures change. Politics has nothing to do with it.

@RupertLowe10 Minimum wage barely pays the rent & transport to work. Food & clothing are often beyond reach. I’m afraid that there are no holidays, drinking or latest IPhones for the full time workers being exploited for poverty wages.

@JamesMelville It’s the answer to so many things. Illegal immigration control, identity theft, misuse of health & other services, personation (not a massive problem I know), illegal employment and many other identity related problems. What’s the problem if you lead an honest life?

@CliveWismayer I installed Teleprinters No.15 for PO Telephones. TP7s & triple head auto tape readers too. My pal installed a 2.4kb link to a major supermarket’s warehouse feeding a golfball printer. This was all around 1970. Mum used a comptometer at work & we had a Banda printer at school.

@TheOnlyEsta I liked Obama but if the only option the US has is to wind the clock back then you guys are in real trouble. The Dems need a younger, dynamic, charismatic option to displace Trump because, mark my words, he’ll try to find a way to run again.

@Christo03770888 Paraffin heater. Paraffin cost Half a Crown per gallon. It came in Pink or Esso blue. Getting the paraffin on Saturday morning was my task in the winter. Late 50s, those were the days. Any responsible trader would sell a gallon of highly flammable liquid to an 8 year old!

@David__Osland 7.7k per month for mother in law. That’s about £257 a day. It was bit posh & staffed 24/7 with nice folks. Doctor came buy every Wednesday. She had an outside door & a few flowers. Included hospital transport, outings and entertainment. Even an inclusive bar. The food was awful.

@SydesJokes Good luck with the catheter ablation. I hope it goes ahead that quickly. I’ve been on the waiting list since January 28th with I’m told, many more weeks to go. Is this achieved by going private or a post code lottery? PS, in fairness beta blockers are having an effect with me.
