After nearly a decade, I finally got back to Tamarack Country Club this weekend, and I was amazed at what they’ve done with the place. Architect Brian Schneider is continuing to restore the bold brilliance of Charles Banks’ original 1929 design, and there’s even more to come.

The driveable par-4 2nd hole begs you to take on these bunkers instead of playing it safe to the left. (The skinny greensite is on top of the hill behind the hazards, to the right of the truck.)

A gentle handshake, it is not. The 1st at OB has lots of, um, visual interest. Particularly on the right side up nearly the entire length of the hole.
