JUST IN: 13 moderate Democrats have signed a “Promise to America” pledge vowing to obey the sludge, chanting 'sludge, sludge, sludge' as their eyes turn fully black and the light in their souls flickers one last time

Rafah is gone. A city with over 3,500 years of history. The city my grandmother lived in 80 years ago. Bulldozed. Erased in the blink of an eye. I will never forgive the world.
Stock piling weaponry.
Building mass detention centers.
Creating an AI-fueled mass surveillance system.
Labeling anti-Trump speech as indicators of “domestic terrorism.”
Denying due process.
Are you paying attention yet?
Hello! I’m the reporter who has been tracking citizens detained by immigration agents. And last night, I noticed something: A lot of them were at the State of the Union, including a number of whom I’ve written about.
Their stories should be known:
@RawbertBeef Intrusive thoughts are fascinating to me(I get them too).
I like the theory that sometimes they might actually be scenarios our mind is thinking about because it wants to make sure it avoids them.
@evilvillain1231 My parents weren’t in denial or anything, but were never diagnosed(not from families that would do that for them). Which is a large part of why it took me so long to get diagnosed, because I just thought most of the symptoms were normal.
@Autistic_Lauren Depends on the person I think. With some people really easy. With some people not so much. And depends on the context.
Funnily enough a lot of times people think I didn’t know they were joking, because I continue the joke, but they think I’m serious.
@littmath Chance of getting heads to begin with P(B) =1/3*0.5+ 1/3*0.5+1/3*1=2/3
Chance of picking rigged coin P(A)=1/3
Rigged coin always lands on heads P(B|A)=1
Chance that I got the rigged coin given that I got heads P(A|B)=(1*1/3)/(2/3)=1/2
@senpainotes Unfortunately, because it’s become normalized, there’s also a sort of social cost to wearing one now in a lot of places.
A higher likelihood to be singled out, or even attacked by some rightwing asshole.
Not justifying it, just figuring out some of the reasons people don’t mask
@wnderlustingem Yeah. I’m fascinated by understanding how people work internally. And learning how to better work with that positively.
But learning and understanding only get you so far.
And it’s also an exhausting amount of finite brain power.
@sp1nda_pgh@wnderlustingem Yeah.
There’s literal studies showing that when autistic people try really hard to behave appropriately they come off as even weirder and ick people out because they’re trying too hard.
Even if you study something hard there’s no guarantee you can perform it.
almost every single autistic woman i’ve met does this. i’ve done this. except everyone gets mad at you for following scripted responses and actions with recognizable beats so not even that works.
it is literally more worth your time to obsess over trains.
@JeanGreige Does media make the hidden messages and meanings of social interaction much more obvious? Or maybe simpler?
I find myself really able to read and understand people in shows and stuff, but it’s so much less certain in real life.
@lonelyfag15 It often is, it just uses a lot of brain power to do, both stressful and exhausting
for long periods. And slower and still less natural
Stuff that’s usually done subconsciously requires conscious effort.
Like if you needed to consort do math for every footstep you took.
@AutisticCallum_ And then sometimes they didn’t really pay attention, and instead took your explanations of what you’re NOT saying as explanations of what you are saying.
@jinslovestory@Doodelay @whoisuzo Even as someone who studied physics, agreed. People most important.
Even if you only care about the advancement of science, the best way to advance science is keep more people alive and give them the resources to do it.
But our current gov is happy to spend on neither.
@Doodelay @whoisuzo Sorry for the long tweets, I just really feel that. love to see people who love physics. But I’m sad to say I agree with your pessimistic view toward it.
I hope you can keep that fascination alive and keep developing your talents while you pursue the best path you can figure out.
@Doodelay @whoisuzo I still go back and forth on it. I don’t regret studying it because i find it fascinating and beautiful and developed my ways of thought.
But I cannot recommend others go into it. Especially because after it seemed who wanted to hire me outside academia were military technology
