@BasedSquatch Minor point - they landed on runway 19L which was quite a bit shorter (~9700 feet). They stopped at the I terse room with runway 25R. Almost 1/2 mile shorter. It’s in the NTSB accident report.
@SecretaryPete So does that mean the $800 tickets on American Airlines I had to buy to get my two boys home when Southwest told them they were stranded in Phoenix for four days will not be reimbursed? You’ve backed off on that one.
@USDOT@FAANews@SecretaryPete Yeah, no, my boys were stranded in Phoenix for four days. No meal vouchers. No hotel. I booked and paid for a hotel from home and then booked them tickets home on American Airlines at a cost of $125 for the hotel and $800 for the tickets. I’m submitting all for reimbursement
@shelleyabc13@zero04013437@SouthwestAir@houstonpolice In years past the airlines would provide vouchers so you didn’t have to pay up front. As a million mile traveler I’ve had some rough trips. This has been the worst ever.
@suramarspicejar @shelleyabc13 Honestly I think it’s very station dependent. When their first flight was canceled on Saturday I was able to convince them to comp them $200 each for that and their bags getting misdirected. Shortly after that they were denying folks.
@shelleyabc13@zero04013437@SouthwestAir@houstonpolice Didn’t pay for them in Phoenix yesterday. My two boys got stranded. Told they would be there til Saturday. They refused to comp a hotel - even for one night. I paid the hotel and then purchased two one way tickets on AA to get them home today.
@suramarspicejar @shelleyabc13 They did not pay for lodging or transportation in Phoenix. Last night my two boys were stranded after their flight to Albuquerque was cancelled. Told it would be four days to get them out. Tried to get them to comp even one night - no go. Hotel $124. Flight home on AA $800
@carfullofstuff@QueenJadeJolie@SouthwestAir Southwest does not declare your luggage lost until six days have passed. That said, had my other son stop at the Albuquerque airport as he and his wife were driving from Santa Fe heading to Phoenix. They picked up bags and are driving to Phoenix to give to us. We’re stuck in PHX
@QueenJadeJolie@SouthwestAir Bags were found in my destination city (Albuquerque). My son is driving from Albuquerque to LA tomorrow and is bringing the bags. We fly home tomorrow night (back to Atlanta) on American Airlines. Time to start the reimbursement process. Any thoughts @SecretaryPete?
@QueenJadeJolie@SouthwestAir Same here. Plus I still haven’t gotten to my destination. Now stuck in Phoenix. I did talk to a real human finally after 8+ hours of holds. His answer was “I don’t really know where your bags are”. Got to wait six days to make a claim. Maybe I’ll get to my destination first!
@writergirl1022@jf3phan@SouthwestAir Look at the stats. Southwest has canceled 67% of their flights today. No other major was over 10%. That’s ~350,000 enplanements today alone. That’s more than weather.
@DonChampionTV “Is near meltdown mode”? Is in meltdown. 67% of their schedule canceled today. And the day is not over. 2731 flights not flying. At ~130 pax per flight over 350,000 people not getting to their destinations. Today alone.
@Jason_RTR @BradRanker@LargeAlfred@ClayTravis Stop all flights 2-3 days out. Get planes and crews positioned. Get everyone currently stranded to their destinations. Get bags back in customers hands. Then start flying again.
@LynnHorsley@SecretaryPete@SouthwestAir This. This right here. 48 hours to get out of Atlanta. Bags left Saturday. Still haven’t made it to their final destination. With luck, we’ll arrive when they do. 8+ hours of cumulative time on hold without ever getting through. Just a total meltdown.
