In 1960 only ~38% of high school grads went on to college. The rest of us were facing the draft so it was a good idea to join the military if we didn't want an entry level job and be drafted at some unknown future time.
Military service taught skills that prepared us for the workforce.
Junior here would have been better off then. With his attitude I doubt it would benefit him now.
@NoaMagid At least there's the satisfaction knowing that each and every one of these cockroaches know they will suffer a violent death at the hand of Israel. Whatever limited time they have left will be lived in fear. Fuck them!
For years I accepted fragmented sleep as just part of getting older. I'm in my mid-eighties. A usual night meant waking up multiple times, recently because of leg cramps. I follow Dr. Andrew Huberman. I've tried all his and other experts’ advice for better sleep. No help.
Recently I tried taking a bottle cap full of liquid Baja Gold mineral sea salt in water before bed—not to improve sleep, but to see if it would help prevent the cramps. This meant I was drinking an additional 8-10 ounces of water within an hour before bed. At the advice of a urologist, for the last few years, other than a couple of ice cubes, I had nothing to drink three hours before bed.
The surprise wasn't the cramps though they're gone. It was my sleep.
Since making the change I've consistently slept 5–7 hours straight, usually waking no more than once. For me, that's a dramatic improvement in both sleep quality and how I feel the next day. It's been about two weeks.
This is just one person's experience, not medical advice, and I can't say the salt was definitely the cure (though I believe it is). But the timing has been remarkably consistent, so I thought it was worth sharing in case someone else with similar issues finds it useful.
@HusvarJerod @grey4626 I may be the only one on here that remembers contemporaneously the Kitty Genovese story. It was 1964 in Queens, NY. A lot more than 30 years ago. Shame on us.
A couple of years earlier I stepped up when a pervert was molesting a young woman on the subway in Brooklyn.
It's a choice. I'm in my mid-eighties. I work my 33 acre gun- dog training property. I maintain all my own equipment, tractor, mowers, etc., care for animals.
At the same time I am very comfortable with technology. I use AI for everything. I've learned to use agents. All on my own.
If I have any health questions I find the answers easily. It's faster with better explanations than from busy health professionals.
I also trade the markets daily.
I decided that if kids could learn this stuff I could too. It builds on itself.
The hardest part is taking the first step.
Here’s a great video about a great Polish Jew who financed the American Revolution 250 years ago and died penniless 9 years later. His name was Chaim Solomon. Make it go viral before America’s 250th anniversary next month
