If France n Argentina meet again this wc final, it would not just be the part 2 of last WC, but a match between two absolutely different teams.
On one side, it's the team that has yet to get into top gear, even though they r demolishing everyone.
France looks like a team u make in Fifa career mode where every player is among the best at his position.
They look like a combination of all time WC XIs. Forward line that is regen of Brazilian side of 02, Midfield that can go toe to toe against Spain 10 n a defense line that can rival Italy 06.
And this whole structure has one primary job, to feed the ball to most prolific WC goal scorer. Their goal difference is best so far this wc n they didn't even look like breaking any sweat at all.
N on the other side, it's Argentina. A team which looks less like a football squad and more like an army ready to die or kill for its general.
Lead by the greatest football to ever grace the game, this team is an assembly of talents who may not work individually, but together, they become something special.
This team is all about Messi, but not Messi the football, rather, Messi the leader. Every player's every movement on the pitch appears as if choreographed prior.
You watch them as individual player, neither the formation makes much sense nor the positioning.
However, everyone and their grandparents know, just like all roads lead to Rome, all passes lead to 5'7" autistic genius who just make things happen.
On one side, the most complete team ever on the other side, a team of misfits taped together by sheer genius and almost godlike loyalty to one player.
If either of these teams do not reach finals, we might miss the biggest competition in international football, we could see in our lifetime, but man, if they reach there, it would be a game to write odes about.
2022 was a prequel..
2026, is the real climax...
@TomBrady Behave. Spain 1982.
Brazil’s football, Brazil v Italy, Scumacher on Battiston in a classic West Germany v France semi-final, Cameroon, no countdowns to kick off, no VAR, games not having 4 quarters, a proper football country, only 24 teams, and Marco Tardelli.
@sidlowe Furthermore, next year the @premierleague will have 4 #Basque coaches from Gipuzkoa region. #Arteta, #Emery, #Iraola, and #XabiAlonso.
Did you know that Mikel, Andoni and Xabi played together for the same club in Donostia/SanSebastian when they were kids? @Antiguoko.
Amazing‼️
In 24 hours, Mikel Arteta took Arsenal to first league in 22 years, Andoni Iraola took Bournemouth to Europe for first time ever and Unai Emery took Aston Villa to first European trophy in 44 years, first of any kind in 33 years. All born within 30 miles of each other. Gipuzkoa.
This might be my most exhaustive work to date.
Don't know when was the last time you had to read scientific research for a football article but here we are.
It's also my first piece here on X: FREE even though it took a LOT to write.
