🚨 Ten years after Brexit referendum, the House of Commons Library has assessed the evidence in advance of a Westminster Hall debate on Wednesday 2 September led by @PeteWishart

Its conclusion?

There is a broad consensus among economists that Brexit has made the UK economy smaller than it otherwise would have been.

Estimates of the GDP loss: 2–8%.

OBR long-term assumption: 4%.

Expected hit to UK trade: 15%.

Meanwhile EU net migration fell below zero but non-EU migration surged, peaking above 1 million.

We sacrificed freedom of movement, erected barriers with our largest market and made ourselves poorer.

And overall migration went UP.

Ten years of evidence.

How much more evidence do we need before Britain changes course?

This should be a national scandal.

Multiple sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln have attempted to jump overboard as the aircraft carrier’s deployment in the Middle East stretches months beyond what their families originally expected.

Think about how desperate conditions have to become for American service members, people trained to endure enormous physical and psychological stress, to reach that point.

The roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard the Lincoln have reportedly endured food and water shortages, poor-quality rations, shortages of basic hygiene products, broken toilets, mold and mildew in showers, intermittent hot water, disrupted mail service and brutally long workdays with little meaningful time off.

The ship has spent extraordinary stretches at sea without the regular port calls that normally allow crews to get off the vessel, rest, resupply and simply experience something resembling normal life for a few days.

These men and women volunteered to serve the United States. They understood that military service could mean sacrifice, danger and months away from their families.

They did not volunteer to be treated as disposable.

If conditions aboard one of the most powerful and expensive warships on Earth have deteriorated to the point where sailors are reportedly trying to throw themselves into the ocean, then something has gone catastrophically wrong.

Our service members deserve better than this.

And somebody in leadership needs to answer for how it was ever allowed to get this bad.

BREAKING: Trump's $10 billion BBC lawsuit is BACKFIRING BIGLY and may force Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's January 6 evidence back into the courtroom

After making $16 million from Paramount/CBS to settle one of his frivolous lawsuits, Donald Trump figured he could keep suing media companies and rake in the dough from corporate CEOs who would rather give in than face a protracted and expensive legal fight.

But Trump got greedy and wanted a $10 billion payday from his next target, Britain’s venerable public broadcaster, the BBC.

What he's getting instead is a legal nightmare of his own making.

Trump sued the BBC last December, claiming a documentary on their news program Panorama, "put words in his mouth" by editing together portions of his January 6th speech delivered nearly 50 minutes apart.

He even bizarrely claimed the network used AI to fabricate his words — it didn't. The BBC did splice the footage, which sparked an internal investigation, the firing of some senior officials at the broadcaster, and the issuing of a written apology.

An apology simply wasn't enough for Trump, however. He still wanted that $10 billion.

Now his lawsuit against the British broadcaster is unraveling spectacularly.

A federal judge ruled this week that Trump must hand over detailed financial records from more than 400 companies tied to his family trust — because HIS OWN lawsuit claims the BBC's editing damaged his businesses.

You can't claim massive financial injury and then refuse to show your books. Judge Enjoliqué Lett wasn't buying the attempted dodge: "All of President Trump's brand, properties and businesses are impugned... Reputational, economic damages, all of that is now at issue in this case."

It gets worse. The same judge greenlit subpoenas targeting Trump's inner circle — Donald Trump Jr., Steve Bannon, and Stephen Miller — to determine what Trump actually intended on January 6th.

And now, in a third gut-punch within 24 hours, the BBC is demanding records showing exactly how Trump LOST his executive privilege claims during Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's January 6th investigation.

Smith's team had already gathered evidence establishing that the Capitol violence was "foreseeable" to Trump, that he "caused it," and that he made "a conscious choice not to stop it" once it began. If the BBC gets that evidence, Trump's entire defamation case collapses.

Trump built a career suing media outlets into silence. This time, he sued an organization willing to actually fight — and in doing so, handed prosecutors a roadmap straight into his finances, his inner circle, and his own conduct on January 6th.

Plus, the public may get another chance to review the evidence that Jack Smith amassed against Trump, evidence that judges appointed by the litigious president have made sure that he’ll never be held accountable for.

Sometimes a lawsuit is simply a trap you built for yourself.

It's time the voters of Clacton should learn about Farage's treasonous work for Russia.

On September 16, 2014, Farage and Nathan Gill made speeches to the European Parliament parroting several of the same Russian propaganda lies.

They both called Ukraine "The Ukraine," a term which refers back to the old Slavic word for borderland, which Russia uses to deny Ukraine's nationhood.

They both used the expression "poking the Russian bear."

They both parroted the Russian lie that there had been a coup in Kyiv in 2014.

They both parroted Russian lies about NATO and EU expansion.

They both repeated the Russian claim that the real threat was Muslim extremism, a claim that Putin had very effectively used to distract Western leaders from Russian aggression and its hybrid war against the West.

Reform UK initially claimed Farage barely knew Gill. That turned out to be a blatant lie.

Please spread information about Farage and Russia. Our hapless news media are very likely to forget all about Farage's Russia links unless they are very loudly and repeatedly reminded.

While Norway still owns everything and has the equivalent of £10tn.

Kemi Badenoch at #PMQs today quoted Russia's defence spending at 10% and used to it to attack Starmer.

This is ... untrue.

From SIPRI's latest fact sheet, Russia's military spending is 7.5% of GDP.

She also claimed that Germany had risen to 3.7%. Another lie.

This year Germany increased to 2.8% with plans to hit 3.5% by 2029.

So many made up numbers when the government in which she served, cut defence spending rather than increased it.

We should not have to suffer perpetual lies from our politicians that need fact checking constantly.

Two women attending a counter‑protest in Crewe yesterday were subjected to verbal abuse by the usual individuals who frequent these events. Disturbingly, one of the women - who was in a wheelchair - was physically assaulted. A defence spray was deployed, prompting the assailants to flee.
Present, as ever, was Auditor Chris Messenger, also known as “English Ned”, loudly remonstrating with the police for failing to arrest the victims rather than the perpetrators.

The catastrophic reality of Brexit has exposed the entire project as a historical scam pushed by charlatans and traitors, on behalf of Moscow.

It has directly undermined European security and weakened the West to the absolute delight of Moscow, Beijing, and Washington DC.

The separation of the United Kingdom from the European continent has made both entities far more vulnerable to external threats. At a time when global stability requires absolute cohesion, this decision introduced needless fragmentation.

The geopolitical rewards of this blunder flow straight to Washington DC, Beijing, and Moscow. Russia and China look at a fractured Europe and see a continent that is much easier to manipulate, exploit, and destabilize because one of its strongest powers is isolated from its neighbors. The US sees the same, especially under Trump.

Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage will forever carry this betrayal as their core legacy. The United Kingdom must eventually rejoin the European Union to reclaim its economic sanity and strategic defense, a move that is becoming increasingly obvious to everyone
