Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram stated that the ongoing deterioration of city roads is due to a combination of persistent rainfall, unrestored trenches dug by utility companies, and severe staff shortages. He explained that a significant portion of civic officers and employees has been deployed for SIR-related work over the past month, constraining the administration's ability to maintain and repair damaged roads across Pune. The shortage has worsened public frustration over potholes, traffic congestion, and commuting delays.

My elder daughter was pregnant, and we took her to a hospital after sonography and all other checkups. We told them it was an emergency case, but they said they could not treat her and asked us to take her to Sion Hospital. We requested the doctors, explaining that the roads were flooded and it would take hours to reach another hospital. We told them my daughter's life was at risk and requested that her delivery be carried out there. We appealed repeatedly to the doctors and staff, but they refused and insisted that we take her to another hospital. My daughter was in a critical condition. We didn't know what to do, so we called Dada. We asked him how we could move her in such circumstances. He questioned why the hospital was refusing treatment despite her condition... The doctors were not even taking our calls, so Dada came to the hospital to help... The case filed against Dada is completely false. He has always stood by us. That is why I reached out to him."

The fact that offices are open, stock market running, airport operating and people still making it to meetings etc is a true testament to the incredible spirit of our great city. While it’s understandable to be angry given all the inconvenience, the rain we are setting in parts of western Maharashtra is far from “normal”.

Richer administrative regions worldwide tend to come to a standstill in similar situations, showing us the might of nature!

This doesn’t mean we don’t focus on improving quality and governance; but at the same time we can also give the administration some credit for what they are doing right!
