@arthur_spirling@wrongkindadoc I think it's complicated and has many nuances. AI in my view has many potentials. Would genuinely love to discuss it more if we are ever in the same building. Here I reacted to plain cheating - having a GenAI tool write parts of a paper, hallucinate references, and submit it
You should not use AI for producing your papers!!!! We are seeing more of this submitted to JPART and only find it because we read each and every submission whether it's send for review or desk rejected. Just had a case where a paper hallucinated references not existing. Stop!
@arthur_spirling Well, not really. Fine to use ML and other methods to analyze data (do this myself) or even check paper for grammar. Here we are talking about researchers using AI to write large parts or complete papers
@SebJilke Yes! There is one country appearing in more than half of cases where we expect one kind of fraud or another (though N is low, so some precaution) but tend to think most productive way forward is to engage in deeper discussion about root causes and remedies
📢 Exciting News! The latest issue of the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory is out now!
