@FungiwithBengi I remember reading somewhere that the blue on the Blue Jay feathers is not so much a blue color, but the metallic blue stems from an optical effect. Indeed if you shine light through a Blue Jay feather, it is going to appear brownish, not blue. Perhaps that can give you a hint.
