I ever tell y’all bout the time I had to let a couple missionaries know they had a lil too much dip on their chips?

IMO: Survivors of complex trauma often struggle to accept kind words from others because, if those compliments were true, we'd have to ask ourselves why our abusers were unable to love us in the ways that people less intimate with us can and want to.
Any notion of mission in this world must confess that God moves first. Long before we act, God has already acted. Long before we speak, God has already spoken. Long before we arrive, God has been present.
May you embrace the healing process that God has in motion right now. Do not stuff emotions that keep trying to surface. They're trying to tell you something. Refuse the quick fix. Embrace the journey. Envision a whole, healed you.
May you rest assured that God has used all of your past experiences to prepare you for this particular moment. You're not who you once were. You're wiser, stronger, and more resilient. May you shake off yesterday's regrets, fears, and worries, and lay hold of faith, hope, & love.
Pray for Afghanistan & Haiti. Take that angst, grief, concern, bafflement & indignation to the feet of Jesus & let them tumble forth in pleas for mercy, action & leadership, knowing the Spirit intercedes according to God’s will. Just show up at the throne and groan.
But show up.
If you feel Christianity is collapsing, take hope, it's just the commercial part falling away and what will be left is Christ and those who long to follow him into the beauty and brokenness of the world.
Billion dollar idea: an app that sends you a text after hanging out with people that just says, "No, you weren't weird, and no one is ruminating on that thing you said that you think was super awkward."

Well, yeah, we could just keep on blaming, accusing & sparring about the way things are & feel smug & self righteous or we could put that energy into praying for God to work gloriously in our day. Truly, if we complain more than we pray, all we have is our own unbelief to blame.
Been a Pastor in a rural church, a suburban mega church, a liturgically hip church, and a missional urban church.
Doesn't matter the style, if people don't find trust-filled, grace-soaked, there-for-you-in-your-darkest-hours type of community, it's all a waste of time!
