In the feed industry, we don’t yet have an accepted method for assessing carbon on producing straw.

@ProagriLtd We can all blame the supermarkets, but what are the NFU doing about it? The union needs to be stronger. It needs to educate the public. Stop telling people about subsidies and be positive about food, quality and the environment.

@ProagriLtd @AgindustriesUK Farmers - see past what you're being told you can't do and get Red Tractor or FEMAS. It will open your routes to market. The issue lies at the price things are being sold as elsewhere, not the cost of assuring it.

@ProagriLtd @AgindustriesUK The gatekeeper scheme only helps the big merchants, which is fine, but at some point responsibility has to be taken for their role in the UK market. Gatekeeping material will always be a higher risk because of the extra steps, especially on the scale of batches at 1000 tonnes.

@ProagriLtd @AgindustriesUK AIC/NFU - Assurance is perceived as expensive and inaccessible. Getting started with FEMAS/Red Tractor is seen as a brick wall for a lot of farmers. A lack of farm administrators capable of implementing schemes doesn't help. Those doing it well aren't cheap.

There's a long history farmers undercutting the neighbouring farm. Let's hope the NFU can bring everyone together on this.
