There was an Ehlers Danlos conference last week, top #EDS researchers discussed how hypermobile Ehlers Danlos and hypermobility spectrum disorder are the same
The proof is in, the EDS Society will announce by end of 2026
But #MedTwitter still fights with patients about this
@evilvillain1231 Yeah exactly this. My mom is ADHD and my dad is autistic and I'm AuDHD and they are still so in denial and also get so offended when I even suggest their own neurodivergences, and growing up was an Experience
EDS/HSD pain can come from dysautonomia, muscle tension, fascial restriction, poor proprioception, and even nerve irritation, not just joint instability.
Focusing only on joints means we miss opportunities to manage pain more effectively. We need an integrative view of pain, because EDS is a full-body condition. This is a connective tissue disorder and that is everywhere in the body.
It’s time we expand the clinical conversation to include everything else that also hurts.
The problem we have as patients is that too often, EDS gets overlooked or reduced to “just hypermobility.” This misses the bigger picture and leaves patients without answers & help.
EDS isn’t just about being flexible or “double-jointed.” It’s a connective tissue disorder that can affect the entire body, from joints and muscles to skin, organs, and more.
This is why no two people with EDS present the same way. Some may struggle most with joint instability, others with gut issues, heart problems, or fatigue. Some with everything all at once. It’s complex. It doesn’t mean the patient is difficult or untreatable.
It’s means we need to look further than the ‘oh it’s just hypermobility statement.
Reminder that there was a game created by a bunch of passionate devs that did something no one else has done in the genre, with no corporate bs holding them back from the vision they set for the game. That game is The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy and we need to support it
Ehlers what? Remind me what EDS is? Yes it’s EDS / HSD Awareness Month. It’s that time where we all try to explain this condition to people.
It can be a struggle to explain because let’s face it, not many people have even heard of it. Here’s how I say it:
🦓 It’s a connective tissue disorder, which means the ‘glue’ that holds my body together is a little too stretchy.
🦓 That affects my joints, skin, digestion, and sometimes even my heart and nervous system.
🦓 It’s different for everyone, and it’s not just about being flexible.
Save this for the next time someone asks, ‘What’s EDS?’ Or do you have a version we could also use?
@TheWayHomeX@hallmarkchannel@HallmarkPlus@evan_m_williams@sadielsnow 1. Casey isn't who everyone assumes they are (but they are a time traveler)
2. Sam is withholding important information (e.g. being Colton's long lost brother?)
3. Alice and Colton have a conversation about time travel in 1999
4. Del gets her five more minutes.
@BillieNyelish I'm the same and it's frustrating. I have a severe potato/cassava food intolerance (& lactose intolerance) and like 80% of vegan foods have potato starch or tapioca starch.
Also, Sam deliberately purchased land beside Del's farm that wasn't for sale (at a high price), causing the farmland to return to Del just in time for Jacob to return to work the land. I don't trust that Sam is who he says he is, although his intentions are likely pure.
Rewatching #TheWayHome season 1, and... Is it just me, or does the third name say Colton Landry, born 1836, died 1845? Was part of the answer to the season 2 cliffhanger staring us in the face this whole time?
@TheWayHomeX
Since I'm posting things I've noticed: Rebecca's death date has been covered in moss every time we've seen the headstone at the cemetery (including the newest ep present day and flashbacks) & the page with the original info was ripped out of the almanac in 1814.
@TheEDSociety I'm still figuring out the details, but had zero help from my doctors. I was also denied an upper GI scope because I stopped taking PPIs. But at least I was tested for Celiac ×2 (sarcasm). Never even referred to a nutritionist or dietitian. They found GERD & just stopped looking.
@TheEDSociety For 14 years I thought I had a weird presentation of GERD that only causes abdominal pain, and that it was something I just had to live with every single day, until through elimination diets found out it's a severe intolerance to potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, and derivitives
