#CLST6 #Project4 Archaeological study of Pompeii reveals further information about Roman life, such as indulgence in deviant behavior, which will be discussed in this thread. I intend not to paint Romans as deviant, but to discuss a small facet of Pompeii as a city. /1

This divergence between the Roman’s written opinion and archaeological evidence of prostitution and drinking, especially so close to Pompeii’s central business district, suggests that authorities and elites resentfully tolerated the deviance. /21
