A look at Sunderland's transfers over the last 4 years.
They've signed 28 players who were, at the time, under the age of 24.
They signed a total of 40 permanent players over this period.
Most of these signings haven't worked out.
Some players have been sold for a loss. Some left on a free.
Some are currently out on loan after hard introductions.
However, Jack Clarke sold which has paid for the fees on every player.
Cirkin and Hume have a combined transfermrkt value of 16m.
Bellingham is worth 30m.
Other players have had small increases in value and are playing now.
This is the model we need. Smart signings at younger ages. Accept that 60% will not work out but play the odds.
Sell and reinvest again without breaking the bank trying to get up at all costs.
