There's a much better way Robert. It's called just getting on and fixing things.

At the time of the election the average wait on HMRC phone lines was 24 minutes.

In recent months, it has been around 10 minutes.

This is because Labour invested in HMRC customer services & because Ministers, myself included, drove forward big internal reforms that increased digital contact and sped up answer times.

Better to have Labour Ministers improving things than Reform pretenders with policy gimmicks!

Each and every month this money is donated - I made a promise during the election, and I am keeping that promise.

I am NOT in politics for the money.

If I wanted to increase my bank balance? TRUST ME - I would not be doing this.

Roughly £100k donated since the election, and I will continue to do so. As promised to my constituents.

If those journalists want to take up the offer and see how that money has been spent, they know where to find me.

The term “witch hunt” is overused in politics. Perhaps not this time. Quite a bit of the British media should ask themselves some serious questions as to whether the tenor and volume of the coverage they gave to this man was remotely proportionate.
