Received some confused feedback on my latest move because of the description
That was the goal — to make people consider the concept of artificial cardistry and hopefully rethink our relationship with the art form
To be clear, the move was created by yours truly
“But imagining the alternative — a world in which our passion is overtaken by self aware shuffling machines — may lead to us better understanding the current state and future potential of our art form. This is a tribute to the shuffling machine.”
In 2022 the holographic version arrived
This seemed like such a logical continuation
Instead of a printed gradient, hot foil now enabled you to generate unique dynamic gradients yourself
It’s like the original version is a prototype and Holographic Error is the culmination
Every day that goes by with cards in my hands and mind is an absolute blessing
I know it can end at any point
And it has been incredibly challenging at times
But I’ll continue to give it everything I got
Been doing cards full time since I finished school in 2016
That’s seven years of self employment and thinking about cards every single day
Words cannot describe how grateful I have been and continue to be for this opportunity
@Tumbih I just feel like so much potential can be unleashed with organic borders in the context of cardistry driven design
But as a magician, I def understand why you’d wanna keep the clear borders, maybe have two jokers, and not mess too much with court designs
@Tumbih Definitely. It’s all about balance and intent. I’m for example very much against removing/changing the concept of indexes/pips (as was experimented with by a few brands years back). Removes relatability in the object
Always nervous before revealing a new deck
I’ve been working on this new one since September
I try to make art just for myself, but I rely on others appreciation and support to sustain myself and continue creating more
The eternal schism of the artist
