I’m definitely feeling triggered by the Sabina Nessa case. Not only was she a woman walking home, but it just reinforces the fact that if myself, my sisters, my cousins, my aunts, my friends got murdered we wouldn’t get the same media attention as a white woman….
On Monday, the policing bill is being rushed through the Commons. It contains some of the most draconian crackdowns on the right of peaceful protest we've seen in our lifetime. https://t.co/pCphJRwmXj
Makes me so angry. Number 1, the police don’t take reports of sexual harassment seriously meaning that perpetrators escalate to horrific crimes. Number 2, when they’re involved in the actual crime they’re making it out like we’re the criminals ?????
It appears Police were unable to work constructively for @ReclaimTS’s protest to proceed.
On Monday, the Govt propose to strengthen their powers on protests via the Police, Crime, Courts & Sentencing Bill.
Be under no illusion - our fundamental right to protest is under attack.
URGENT UPDATE: police want us to pull the event and are threatening to prosecute organisers. We're working with human rights lawyers to challenge this, but we need your help 👇👇
