Chantek, along with PT, are both over 50 years old –– reaching this extraordinary age is a testament to the care provided by our dedicated keepers and animal care team.  

Chantek enjoys melons and ice treats as enriching snacks on warm Texas days!

As she ages, Chantek enjoys her quiet outside time –– whether it be napping under warm sunrays or people-watching in the World of Primates.

Deer like their pears cut up for them, please and thank you very much.😊
They are used to eating windfall fruit, which is soft and mushy, so fresh pears are a bit challenging.
So now I dutifully cut up the apples and pears I leave for the badger and foxes, and this sweet deer finishes off their leftovers in the morning.
Such a calming, pleasant and satisfying sight, isn't it?

1/ Bess and (Bumble)Bee spent most of their lives wild. What a huge shock to be rounded up, confined, and dumped in the slaughter pipeline without enough to eat. In safe hands now, they will be turned out with a band of seniors, including Mabel, when they have recovered.

It looks like the swollen throat was due to a sting. Thankfully she is back eating soft food and the swelling is gradually subsiding. It's been a worrying few days.

He just can’t help himself – as the other orphans head into the bush for their next browsing session, Kilulu sees an opportunity to showboat and cannot walk away from it. We adore him and his antics.

During the 2022 drought, we rescued so many orphans from desperate situations. It’s been a joy to see their personalities grow ever since. Kilulu, who was weak, emaciated and resigned to his fate when we found him, has undergone one of the most remarkable transformations.
