this was absolutely lovely, strange and extremely sad. it was beautifully queer and romantic in a gut wrenching way. the writing was stunning and stabbing and i loved all of it. im gonna be thinking about this for a while. my leah. pamela.
I’m very disappointed that Emily Wilson falls into the trap so many fans of a written work fall into: judging the adaptation for what they wish it were rather than for what it is. At no point does she try to understand the intentions of Nolan, she’s just frustrated that she didn’t get the adaptation she had imagined.
The problem i have with The Odyssey is that we didn’t get to know how the war started, what caused it and a lot of important storyline was either rushed or skipped and the gods were hardly shown just talked about..
For The Odyssey (2026), Christopher Nolan told Ludwig Göransson, "No orchestra," because they didn't exist in the Bronze Age, forcing him to instead record himself striking 35 bronze gongs, scrap metal, and air-conditioning units — creating a completely unheard, raw soundscape.
