Analysis: Reports of forced conscription are resurfacing in parts of #Oromia, including areas around #ShegerCity and #AddisAbeba.

Families in East Hararghe and East Bale allege relatives were taken against their will. One family says 500,000 birr was demanded for a relative’s release.

The latest accounts could not be independently verified.

The reports come amid Ethiopia’s wider security crises and a history of documented allegations of coercive recruitment and arbitrary detention in Oromia.
