Guy spent years trying to get out of his pigeonhole of "beat producer" + great early 00's aesthetics, motorola flip phones, moms UofC professor apartment, highly recommended.
Was surprised to find the Kanye documentary on Netflix from 23 (maybe they pulled it during his BPD episode??). All footage from 1999-2004 leading to recording the College Dropout. Fascinating back story.
My favorite was him crashing the Roc-a-fella office in 2001, putting his mixtape on with the early version of "all falls down" (it was called "self-conscious" back then) and they still didn't take him seriously while this song was better than what they ever done before anyway.
@Mill_Moron Yeah lol my first reaction. Literally guy is a bridge troll. Ambassador is also falling apart, whenever you drive across it you're thinking it's going to collapse any minute.
@innoc_bystander Yep its land value less demo costs. I guess it's like 2m land value? There's probably so much poisonous chemicals there you need a phase 1 report to step foot in it
@Mill_Moron I just couldn't imagine a better candidate for a mental illness crisis than a remote northern coal town. I am so, so sorry for this community. It's very shameful that instead of grieving the dumb twitter is piling onto their culture war.
@imrishit98@sillymoder_ A place where noone is going, that's why the prices are insane. Every damn day theres a hilarious "canadian airlines are overpriced" and it turns out to be a last minute flight with 3 layovers to the place you never knew existed.
In the 1950s transatlantic planes used to layover
@Mill_Moron Active or former? There's a lot of depression in coal towns after the phaseout. Sparwood is doing well because it seems that strip mine is never going away and logistically great.
@BenWoodfinden Why are you booing him? he's right.
I would like to be governed by a laurentian elite and not the fat albertan boomer, whatever his name was
@rhunterh Nothing gets my cortisol levels higher than being twittermogged by a fan of third world labor (i mean if you don't want to give americans jobs, at least use american technology)
@JulieChangRE Only people making money off data centers at the moment are land owners selling greenfield and developers making margin. I'll believe cap rate compression during ownership when i see it
@ContrarianCurse Any albertan that still wants to go south and presuming not a brainworms chud, is just tired of the cold (understandable), but not worth the hassle.
@ContrarianCurse Used to think this was the way to go before Miller gutted the economist TN stream to remove CFA eligibility almost 10 years ago. Wanted more money. Now I've forgotten about it, I get daycare subsidy, my wife got a year of mat leave, we get subsidized minor hockey and i pay 5% ST.
@EllliotttB I think just creating this aura of "i'm a loose cannon that doesn't know what he's doing" is part of the plausible deniability for any complaints. It's like establishing a baseline of -10% for GP returns.
