In 2005, David Beckham opened his football academy in Greenwich, London.
Among the young footballers there that day was an 11 year old boy named Harry Kane.
Standing beside him was Katie Goodland, a girl he had known since their school days in East London.
They posed for a photograph with Beckham.
At the time, it was simply a picture of two children meeting one of England's biggest football stars.
Harry and Katie could never have known what the next two decades would bring.
The childhood friends grew closer, began dating as teenagers, and built a life together.
Harry kept chasing football.
He rose through Tottenham's academy, endured loan spells, fought for his place, and eventually became one of the greatest goalscorers England has ever produced.
In 2018, he captained England at the World Cup and won the Golden Boot.
In 2023, he broke Wayne Rooney's record to become England men's all time leading goalscorer.
And the girl standing beside him in that old photograph stayed beside him through the journey.
Harry proposed to Katie in 2017.
They married in June 2019 and went on to build a family together, becoming parents to four children.
Years after that photograph was taken, Harry even joked that Beckham was probably Katie's childhood crush.
But life had written a different story.
The boy who once stood beside his football hero became England captain.
And the girl standing next to him became his wife.
Sometimes, an ordinary photograph is only ordinary because we haven't seen the future yet

Nigeria has now been delisted from the International Maths Olympiad, whose finals are happening in Shanghai, China, this July.
It is one of the most prestigious academic competitions in the world.
Nigeria can now only participate as an observer nation, while other countries can participate fully.
This was because of the Ministry of Education’s inability to fund students for 4 consecutive years through National Mathematical Center.
It’s a big shame for Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as Chairman of the governing board of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He succeeds Olufemi Aina, an emeritus professor, who resigned his appointment after less than one year in office.
President Tinubu appointed Aina in July last year, and the board members were inaugurated in November 2025.

It was a pleasure to meet with @teewai_toyin, Director, Africa for Luminate, to discuss the growing intersection between the AI Collective and our efforts to establish Nigeria’s National AI Trust.
Luminate has been a valued partner throughout our AI journey in Nigeria, from supporting the development of our National AI Strategy, to funding the AI Collective and supporting our ambition to build a responsible, inclusive, and globally competitive AI ecosystem in Nigeria.
I am particularly grateful for Toyin’s quiet, consistent, and thoughtful support over the years. As we continue to strengthen the foundations for AI innovation, talent development, and governance in Nigeria, partnerships like these remain critical to translating vision into lasting impact.

I was delighted to host the outstanding Nigerian students who represented our country at the @Huawei Global ICT Competition in China and returned home with exceptional results.
Drawn from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), and Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSU), the 15 students competed across the Network, Cloud, Computing, and Innovation tracks after progressing through national and regional stages of the year-long Huawei ICT Academy programme.
At the global finals, Team Nigeria secured two Grand Prizes in the Network and Innovation tracks, two First Prizes in the Cloud track, and a Second Prize in the Computing track. These achievements made Nigeria the most successful country in the competition outside China for the third consecutive year.
Particularly inspiring was the Innovation Team from Ahmadu Bello University, whose solution leveraged Huawei’s AI, Cloud, and Ascend technologies to develop a solar-powered diagnostic tool capable of testing for malaria and intestinal parasites in under three minutes without requiring internet connectivity. It is a powerful example of how young Nigerians are applying technology not only to compete globally, but also to solve some of our most pressing local challenges.
I am looking forward to connecting these young innovators with the right support and exposure to ensure their passion and creativity can be further built on.

People of Ugwuakuma Arochukwu were seen looting stones at a road construction in Abia state after they thought it’s a mineral resource they just uncovered
These are the people we argue with on the internet btw.
The launch of Nigeria’s Digital Switch Over (DSO) earlier today marks the actualisation of a longstanding dream to transition our broadcasting from analogue to digital. It represents an important milestone in our broader digital transformation agenda and another demonstration of H.E. President @officialABAT, GCFR’s commitment to investing in the foundational infrastructure that unlocks growth and prosperity for decades to come.
The DSO represents a major advancement for broadcasting whose significance extends far beyond television. By leveraging NigComSat’s satellite infrastructure, Nigerians can benefit from clearer access to information, broader educational and cultural content, improved quality of service, and greater inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind simply because of where they live.
The Digital Switch Over is one of the first visible benefits of a much larger national digital infrastructure strategy. Under this administration, Nigeria is embarking on the deployment of 90,000 kilometres of open-access fibre infrastructure through Project BRIDGE, connecting communities, businesses, institutions, and public services across the country. At the same time, Mr President has approved investments in two additional satellites that will further strengthen our capacity in communications and digital services.
Together, these investments will create a truly transformative digital backbone capable of reaching every Nigerian, regardless of geography. As our digital infrastructure expands, it creates unprecedented opportunities for broadcasters, content creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators to reach audiences across West Africa and beyond. Infrastructure does not merely move signals; it amplifies culture, ideas, and influence as we move closer to a more connected, more inclusive, and more prosperous Nigeria.

“CBN is about to restructure how Nigerian banks are built.”
This isn’t just policy, this could reshape the entire banking system. This is not just a technical adjustment, it’s a system-level redesign of risk and control.
