Mrs McFadyen's Grade seven class made and sampled green smoothies today, as part of their Smart Snacking assignment. Shockingly enough, every student asked for seconds π (Recipe: 1c of spinach, pineapple chunks, mango chunks and water, 1 ripe banana).
On Friday, May 31st , Our Lady of Lourdes participated in a DAY of PRAYER and FAITH based activities.
We began our day with a short opening liturgy in the gym, participated in many faith based activities throughout the day, and ended together with a closing slideshow.
The Grade 8 students had a blast at #campbrebeuf ποΈ last week! The students learned and experienced so much. They worked on their rock climbing π§ββοΈ , canoeing πΆ and archery πΉ skills.

Congratulations to Ava C. and Elayna B. who represented OLOL at the OECTA and Trustees Intermediate Scripture Reading. Both students presented with poise and reverence and are excellent examples of Catholic leaders in our school community. We are so very proud of you both!
The grade 8 students did a beautiful job reenacting The Passion of Christ through a tableau in front of the school community. Story telling, reflection, prayer, and responses told the story of Easter beautifully.
The grade 1's followed an engineerβs journey from materials to structure. They explored a variety of materials to understand their qualities through trial and observation, testing for structural effectiveness.
Students in grade 3-6 had the pleasure of hearing from author, Michael Wade today. Michael is the talented writer of the series ... And Then It Happened.
Mr. Wade inspired the students by telling them that anyone can be a writer.
As part of Bullying Prevention and Awareness week, the whole school was involved in creating a kindness link, completing a puzzle piece to show that we all fit in and each class also created a class pledge which is posted on a pink shirt. The HAT also posted positive affirmations
Kindergarten students carving their pumpkin with a special message. The Pumpkin Prayer is a great way to link our Catholic teachings to Halloween. The children were reminded how to carry out Jesus' teachings and be a light to others.
Thank you to Dave Connely and his team for helping support our school with the Fuel For Kids Fundraiser event held at Fortinos. The students loved the meet and greet at the school prior to the event. Thank you to everyone from the OLOL community who came out to support.
Tomorrow (September 29, 2023), we will recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and #OrangeShirtDay by wearing orange shirts and allocating a portion of the day for learning and reflection about Truth and Reconciliation.
