Let me be upfront: I’ve never liked Zelensky, so my take might be biased, but I’ll own that. Mark Rutte is right to tell him he needs to fix his relationship with Trump, but honestly, Zelensky has done everything to mess it up. Let’s look at the history: this guy made a fortune in Russia through TV, and he was backed by Putin at one point. Then he turned his back on Russia, and Putin took it as a betrayal. Add to that his obsession with talking about NATO—something Putin absolutely doesn’t want near his borders. Yes, Russia attacked Ukraine, but Zelensky also played a role in escalating tensions.

And yesterday, in the Oval Office with Trump and JD Vance, he showed his true colors again. You’re facing the world’s biggest superpower—two people who don’t like you at all. Trump asked for your help in politics, you backed his opponent, and you still have the nerve to talk back when they call you out? That’s a massive mistake. Zelensky should’ve kept his mouth shut—not because Trump is right, but because he knows why he’s there: to get support for Ukraine. When you’re dealing with people who can make or break your fight with a snap of their fingers, you stay strategic, not impulsive.

Why does he act like this? Because Zelensky is a one-man show. Since the war started, it’s been all about him—no one else. He hogs the spotlight, he’s everywhere: the god, the devil, the purgatory of Ukraine. Remember Zaluzhny, the general who dared to stand up to him? He got shipped off as ambassador to the UK. Zelensky should’ve gone to the White House with a team—someone he trusts who knows diplomacy, who could’ve calmed him down and spoken for him. But no, he shows up alone against people who don’t want the best for him. Of course, it ended badly.

And the worst part? He doesn’t get Trump. Trump is a businessman; he runs the U.S. like a company. To him, Putin isn’t a threat—he’s a business partner he knows well. Zelensky comes in with pictures of horror to stir emotions, but Trump is past that. He wants solutions, not wars. Zelensky needs to get it through his head that Trump and Vance don’t like him and are close to Putin. If he wants to move forward, he needs to stop playing the lone hero, bring a team, and find common ground—even if it means swallowing his pride.
