A 20-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being discharged from a hospital because her family could not afford continued treatment.

Her husband was recently killed by bandits, leaving her alone with an infant. With no financial support and her parents unable to cover her medical bills, she has been forced out of the hospital despite her worsening condition.

Local volunteers are appealing for urgent assistance to help return her to the hospital for lifesaving care. Those nearby can visit her family in the Malam Ibrahim Mai-tafsiri area of Gusau, Zamfara State.

first time i saw bells palsy was in the Pharmacy.
Patient walked in with face mask on and said his face was drooling.

I was scared at first, thought he was stroking or something, checked his bp, and bruh’s bp over around 170/110.

begged him to not go back home and head to the hospital straight.
then he came back few days later saying, he was diagnosed of bell’s palsy after running several tests and was admitted too.
Brought his meds and told me to see them.

see ehn, Nigeria’s community Pharmacy space is not perfect yet, but i always preach that only Pharmacists should man those premises.
And these pharmacists should stay within their professional scope and refer appropriately.

Nigerians choice of going to the pharmacy first for their healthcare complaints before an hospital is not likely to change any time soon and policy must meet patients at this point rather than enforcing an hospital-centric healthcare policy which is not effective and ignoring the health-seeking behavior of its citizens.

The country needs to find a way to properly formalize CPs into the Primary healthcare framework of the country, develop defined scope of practice, referral pathways , strengthen regulatory oversight too.
Community Pharmacies are too important in the healthcare delivery of the country to be this ignored in the primary healthcare policy framework of the country.

I am not going to be explaining how a symptom like sore throat can present. To a market woman, I will gladly break it down. But to you, it is unnecessary.

What I am against is the subtle jab you think you can throw at pharmacists, which is outright wrong. Very unbefitting of you.

If you want to express your usual contempt for a sister profession like pharmacy, at least use a stronger example. Use emergency conditions. Use surgical conditions. Use complex medical conditions with unclear referral pathways.

Not sore throat.

It is very funny that you think a patient must walk into a hospital to see a physician as the first stop for a sore throat. If they do, fine. If they come to the pharmacy first, also fine.

And I can say this with my full chest as a community pharmacist: in many sore throat cases, the same physicians you are invoking are essentially doing symptom assessment, ruling out red flags, treating, and moving on.

So what exactly is so outrageous about a pharmacist being the first point of care for that same complaint?

How many sore throat cases actually progress to anything beyond uncomplicated self-limiting illness that a pharmacist cannot safely screen and manage or appropriately refer?

Give the data, at least let us deal in data.

An old man like this asked this small girl out...a young nursing student by name Wendy and as a good girl that knows she came to school to study....she turned him down.

At night, the man who is a vulcanizer went with his friends to where the girl lives...they took turn in r@ping her and during the struggle... the girl recognized one of them and even gave him a mark on the neck...then they decided to slit her throat, lock her door back quietly and left.....

These monsters of men were captured yesterday...

Government should just take them to court let the law speak on their behalf.

This is Mr Michael Oyedokun, the teacher who was brutally behe@dEd by kidnappers in Oyo State 💔💔

His family has now released an emotional statement, pleading with the public to stop circulating the graphic videos and pictures of his de@th.

According to them, while they appreciate the love, support and sympathy from Nigerians, the constant reposting of the disturbing footage is deeply traumatizing for the family especially his children who are currently writing their exams.

The family said every time the videos appear online, it reopens the wounds for his children, elderly relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones who are already struggling emotionally with the painful loss.

They humbly appealed that if people must post about the incident, they should kindly blur the videos/images or use the official pictures released by the family instead.

This is honestly so heartbreaking 💔
Beyond the outrage and headlines, there’s a family trying to survive unimaginable pain while the internet keeps replaying their worst nightmare over and over again 😭💔
