Others were poor, the house in capernaum, Mary & Martha, Peter, Andrew, Simon, the house in Emmaus after resurrection. None were recorded as rich

I read a book on marriage and I will never forget a couple that came in for counseling over this submission issue. The wife didn’t like the idea of submission. The husband was withdrawing his love because the wife wasn’t submitting.

The counselor advised the man to love his wife whether she submitted or she didn’t. In fact, he should love her more when she’s not submissive. He told the wife to just “try” and submit. He understands it’s hard. But she should try. They both left the counseling room with a resolution to work on these things.

A few months later, they came back to the counselor.

Counselor: How are you? How’s your marriage?

Man: Honestly, it seemed like something changed. She simply just became a more loving and supportive partner. We are more aligned now and have not squabbled over submission in a while.

Wife: I noticed that his love for me grew bigger. Especially in times when I knew I was being annoying. He’d draw me closer and speak kindly to me. This helped me to see that he wasn’t the mean, controlling person I thought he was.

Counselor: When did your wife become submissive?

Man: Honestly, I can’t tell. I was so busy loving her that I didn’t notice the exact moment things changed. All I knew was, I worked on being an intentional lover.

Counselor: When did your husband become a better husband?

Woman: I just noticed that after our last visit, he became more patient with me. And patience is very important to me. It is one of my ways to know I am safe and loved. Submission to him came naturally.

Man: It does not even feel like “submission” in the real sense of the word. We have just become better aligned. I listen to her more and she now talks to me with respect.

This is a truth every Christian should know. If all you want from God is material ‘things’ you don’t need Christianity for that. Prosperity is not the believers bread; the presence of God is.

This singular truth can even demolish prosperity gospel.

@iamstephenchris @Vanessa_Asueya If you stay in the UK then yes some bills can carry 2 names. The other option is to split it so you have some in husband’s name and some in wife’s name so both of you have evidence of utility bill payment and proof of address
