Prosperity preaching is a weapon used to manipulate the poor and vulnerable to keep giving. It paints the gospel as transactional. Many never reap from it because the motives were not right in the first place. That is why many of us are against it.
When you start telling people that the offerings they are giving is small and not acceptable by God, that is manipulative.
When Preachers tell people that if they do not pay their tithe, things will be tight for them, that is unscriptural.
When Pastors spin the first fruit narrative to force people to part with their salaries, that is not godly.
When preachers tell people to sow seeds in exchange for healing, more blessings etc., then the gospel loses it essence.
These are the things true believers should detest. God loves a cheerful giver. What we give to God for his work on earth is up to us and it should be done without any form of compulsion.
@Deborahmoses_s Just keep smiling and tell them to continue to pray for you. Used to have those kinds of call with my mum as well. After the call she’d make a long sigh. Don’t let that deter you at all. Societal expectations won’t change but you know why you are still waiting.
@trafels The Lagos housing market grinds my gears! I’m just really angry watching this video. How can you be charging this much and still not provide the necessary facilities to make it conducive. What is this rubbish they are charging so much for?
I just returned from America yesterday (my first time going to the States), was out for a walk this evening and everything looks small. The road and the cars looks so tiny compared to the US.
