In 2023, I almost gave up on my PhD.

Not because I lacked passion, but because I was exhausted mentally and emotionally. The only reason I didn’t quit was simple: my ticket money back home wasn’t enough!

When I began my PhD journey in 2022, I was full of energy and determination. I wanted my research to be groundbreaking and change the field.But chasing perfection nearly broke me.

Despite a great start, ethics approved, RF2 passed with no corrections, self-doubt crept in. I questioned my ability, felt the weight of imposter syndrome, and slowly lost confidence in myself.

“What saved me were PEOPLE and the relationships I had built who never gave up on me”

Today, I didn’t just complete my PhD. I earned it with a straight pass, the highest outcome possible. 🥂🎓

To every PhD student or aspiring PhD students reading this: You will feel lost, stuck, or defeated. But remember, you’re not alone. Lean on your community, reach out for help, and take one small step at a time. Your best work will come not from perfection, but from perseverance 💪
