Something similar happened to me two weeks ago. I usually accompany my son up to the playground since he is 3. The playgrounds are big for parents to accompany kids. I was a little tired and I went to sit down with my wife. My son was going on a similar slide but higher. I hear a child start saying don’t push me and yelled stopped. My wife said that’s our son. I ran over there. This kid who was older than him pushed him down the slide. The other kid looked autistic but I didn’t care. The other kid went down the slide laughing and as he came down ran into my son who was laying at the end of the slide. The other kid smashed his head a bit.
I pushed the kid in a semi aggressive way. I went to my wife. I saw the other kids parents and they didn’t come say a word to us. I was staring down the dad who was some cholo. He would not look at my direction. I wanted him to look at my direction, so things could escalate. He would not. The mother after awhile stared at me, but she was a female and I didn’t care. I wanted the dad. My wife said I had an Army shirt on and my army boots (I am a Combat Veteran). That’s probably why he didn’t look. I’m glad he didn’t because I was full of rage. I would have hurt him in a way where repercussions would have affected me more.
If your kid is an autistic child , then you need to be with him at all times. You know your child does not understand things and can hurt other kids. It is your responsibility to watch your kid. I do t care if he is special. The onus falls on the parent.
