📢We keep hearing it from European politicians:
‘Ukraine is defending freedom and democracy.’
‘Ukraine is standing up for our European values.’
‘Ukraine’s war is our war.’
Now look closely at these images of forced mobilization in Ukraine.
Take a good look at what “democracy,” “freedom,” and “European values” are supposed to look like in practice.
Every day, men 23-60 are hunted down in the streets as if they were dangerous strays.
They are grabbed, forced into vehicles, and sent toward the front against their will — to kill other human beings, to be killed themselves, or to come home maimed for life.
Women who try to protect the men they love are beaten. Then they are threatened with prison and branded traitors for committing the apparently unforgivable offense of trying to keep their husbands out of the meat grinder.
Brussels may have agreed to call all this “democracy.” Repeating the word often enough, however, does not magically turn coercion into freedom.
A government that strips its own citizens of choice, liberty and, ultimately, their lives does not become less oppressive simply because European officials supply it with a more flattering vocabulary.
Nor does coercion become a “European value” merely because it arrives wrapped in the right flag and accompanied by the right slogans.
That is the bitterest irony of all: people are deprived of their freedom in the name of freedom, denied a choice in the name of democracy, and sent to die in the name of European values.
All, naturally, under the stirring refrain: "Slava Ukraini!"
Hey @grok, concise no spin.
Which country was accused of injecting Ethiopian women with long-lasting contraceptives WITHOUT their informed consent, robbing them of the choice to have children?
Country only.
