My family knows the cost of alcohol too well. We’ve lost people — men and women — to it.

What hurts most is seeing good people reduced to chasing the next drink. I’ve watched rational, proud humans wash bar toilets just to get a half. Sell everything that is not nailed down chasing the next sip .

Quitting was one of the hardest things I’ve done. The cravings still show up sometimes. Kama Jana there was a party hapa mtaani I decided to switch off my phone and sleep .But I don’t fight them alone. My wife has walked this road with me. Because of her, I get to come home early. I get to spend Saturday mornings building, not recovering. That joy is worth more than any drink.

Alcohol lies to you. It loans you happiness today and charges you with interest tomorrow.
So I’ve learned to protect my peace. I avoid the places and people that will pull me back in. Resisting is easier when you’re not testing yourself every weekend.

We’re still trying to help a few family members find their way out too. One day at a time.
News has reached me that a nephew of mine we recently fundraised for because of liver damage is back with the bottle barely six months later . He is drinking more than ever . His doctor has warned that this might be the end of the road for him if he continues on this road . Very sad.

In high school I had a very lucrative business.

People were careful with everything except soap and tissue. They left them everywhere, and no one ever reported a missing bar of soap. So I’d collect them on my way home and sell them. Good money.

Then Joshua caught on. He wanted in. I didn’t really have a choice.

The next holiday we came back with two big sacks of soap and tissue. But Joshua had big eyes. Very big.

He started with towels. Then bedsheets. Then shoes — things people actually notice when they’re gone. By the time he got to mattresses, I knew it was over.

So I joined the CU and gave my life to Christ. That way, if he got caught, I’d be safe.

He thiefed the thief out of me.

And I feel that’s exactly what’s happening in this government. One thief is stealing bread. His partner is stealing the bakery, the wheat farm, and selling the farmer’s children into slavery. Now the bread thief is too scared to continue. He is corrupting the corruption out of corrupt people .
