BS- The U.S. is one of the rare countries --if not the only country --where aggressive & risk taking immigrants can make it big, get rich, & become part of the system without giving up on their identity.
This is also the case for doing IB or consulting early in your career. 2-3 years to develop the cognitive endurance to outwork everyone else for the rest of your life.
There's a physicist at Stanford named Safi Bahcall who modeled this exact principle and the math is wild.
He calls it "phase transitions in human networks." When you're stationary, your probability of a lucky event is limited to your existing surface area: the people you already know, the places you already go, the ideas you've already been exposed to. Your opportunity window is fixed.
When you move, your collision rate with new nodes in a network increases nonlinearly. Double your movement (new conversations, new cities, new projects) and your probability of a serendipitous encounter doesn't double. It roughly quadruples. Because each new node connects you to their entire network, not just to them.
Richard Wiseman ran a 10-year study at the University of Hertfordshire tracking self-described "lucky" and "unlucky" people. The single biggest differentiator wasn't IQ, education, or family money. Lucky people scored significantly higher on one trait: openness to experience. They talked to strangers more, varied their routines more, and said yes to invitations at nearly twice the rate.
The "unlucky" group followed the same routes, ate at the same restaurants, and talked to the same 5 people. Their networks were closed loops. No new inputs, no new collisions.
Luck isn't random. Luck is surface area. And surface area is a function of movement.
The lobster emoji is doing more work than most people realize. Lobsters grow by shedding their shell when it gets too tight. The growth requires a period of total vulnerability. No protection, no armor, soft body exposed to the ocean.
That's the cost of movement nobody posts about. You have to be uncomfortable first. The new shell only hardens after you've already moved.

@KobeissiLetter Every country should be doing everything they can to build their nuclear arsenal. The UK should move some their nuclear arsenal to Greenland just as a means to deter any furtherance of this, we are pushing a might is right world and only MAD can deter this.
A growing number of top AI researchers are homeschooling their children
Not out of ideology, but because they believe the current education system will not prepare them for a world shaped by AI and robotics
Education must now be designed in reverse: start from the skills the future demands, and build backwards
Otherwise, we risk making our childrens’ skillsets obsolete before they even enter the workforce
@Nazteeee196 You can tell @Carra23 hates the fact that an Arab/African guy named @MoSalah is one of Liverpool's greatest ever players, if not the greatest. Its clear as day he's been waiting to offload on him...
🇨🇳 Arriving in Chongqing is craaaazy, they designed it well so you drive into the city from the airport immediately seeing the crazy lit up skyline
They just put a LED strip on literally every edge or line or road in the city and lit it up
It's so funny seeing Europe try to save the climate by using less energy when obviously China could not give any less fucks (as they should) and just spends more and more energy (because they know to develop society you have to spend energy, as the Kardashev Scale describes)
@donaldtusk During this entire war period the EU leaders haven’t written a single plan of their own or presented a peace plan. Their incentive is clear as the day is long - to keep the war going at the cost of Ukrainian lives and Ukrainian suffering.
Aristotle understood 2500 years ago… 2500 years ago, wisdom is timeless.
You’ll have an arrogant gen-z try reason otherwise based on emotions and feelings.
A multicultural society can’t bind together or share values, so it can’t self govern
Multicultural societies require emperors, kings, or dictators
They can’t be governed as republics
