@BelindaRBeck@DrJohnOrchard@amapresident And AMA supports evidence based treatments to reduce and prevent disease (including exercise!). But we also support doctors being able to discuss with their patients and decide together the best treatments for each individual patient (including knee arthroscopy sometimes…)
@BelindaRBeck@DrJohnOrchard@amapresident If you want a position on the 30 odd member Federal Council you and your colleagues need to join😜 Together we are stronger.
@BelindaRBeck@DrJohnOrchard@amapresident John you need to get a life… As you are well aware, all AMA members get to vote and after a conversation with you I put forward changes to the AMA constitution that explicitly recognizes ALL AMC approved specialties (was implicit before)
@samanthamaiden@chloebooker @JenniferFShort @ACTINOSProject@amapresident@abc730 Medicare is a very complex and somewhat outdated scheme where all claims are subject to scrutiny by the regulators. There is undoubtedly a level of error and also some fraud but the claim of $8b or 30% without good evidence is simply sensationalist and lazy journalism. Do better
Good decision from WA Govt today. Disappointing for many, but we will be living with #COVID19 risk for many months to come and must not become complacent @amapresident @MarkMcGowanMP https://t.co/x0SlEHGa8l
Access to #telehealth has been a success story out of the #COVID19 crisis. I wrote to govt today asking that temporary access for GPs and other doctors be extended until March while we work out how to keep it long term @amapresident
Not sure how that makes me right wing?? And to avoid doubt, the AMA will be stronger than ever and doing more, not less on the policy front. AMA brings doctors together and we will continue to advocate on issues that matter to all Australians @amapresident
If asked, @JenniferDoggett I would have told you that my priorities are a stronger, better health system built on preventive care, quality GP, better funded public hosps and a sustainable private system @amapresident https://t.co/2ejTerzSa2
Workplaces are major sources of #COVID19Vic transmission. Hoping to hear tough restrictions from @DanielAndrewsMP today. Time to stop this virus and protect Victorian lives.
The right call by @DanielAndrewsMP today. Curfew and Stage 4 restrictions will be tough, but the alternative unthinkable. It’s now or never to protect Victorians and the rest of the country.@amapresident
Proud and humbled to have been elected @amapresident today. Now the hard work starts! Hoping to have access to the offical twitter account soon! Otherwise might need a new picture for my profile...
@_PHAA_@Greens@sophiescott2@MetherellMark@croakeyblog @Sue_Dunlevy Prevention is important, but the best way to break our universal public healthcare system will be to push Australians out of private health insurance. Prevention saves lives but doesn’t save money. Too many piecemeal health ideas in this election.
@LiangRhea@AOA_ortho AOA has taken huge strides on the path to greater gender diversity and some support and recognition of those efforts would be more helpful than snide tweets. The board is leading the orthopaedic profession in this direction despite consisting of quite a few ‘white’ men.
@Bowenchris What’s the first question everyone asks on the birth of a new baby? Recording sex on a birth certificate doesn’t have to be discriminatory and there are better ways to look after the small numbers who are embarrassed by their birth certificate.@ScottMorrisonMP
