The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has cautioned young Nigerians against relying on sports betting as a means of achieving financial success, urging them to embrace hard work, patience and purposeful living.
Speaking during a message to youths, Oyedepo said betting platforms such as BetNaija do not offer a reliable path to lasting prosperity, warning that the pursuit of quick wealth often distracts young people from developing their talents and building sustainable careers.
"BetNaija is not the way to financial fortune," the cleric said, adding that genuine success may take time but ultimately brings lasting rewards.
To illustrate his point, Oyedepo recounted how he was able to appreciate the woman who introduced him to Christianity years after the encounter by buying her a car, saying the achievement came through years of steady growth rather than shortcuts.
"It may be slow, but it's sure," he said, encouraging young Nigerians to remain focused on diligence, discipline and long-term goals instead of chasing instant riches.
