I sincerely thank Mirwaiz Sahab for raising his voice against the opening of wine shops in general, and the proposed outlet at Pantha Chowk in particular. His intervention has lent weight to the genuine concerns and sentiments of the people.
I had participated in the protest on the previous Friday and was detained the following day. My detention, however, is inconsequential. What matters is that despite the pressure and attempts to make us abandon this demand, we, along with many others, reached out to Mirwaiz Sahab to raise the issue.
It is, however, deeply unfortunate that the ruling dispensation led by the NC, including its elected representatives from the very constituencies where these outlets are proposed, has chosen not to express even customary or symbolic solidarity with the concerns of their own people. Such is the state of affairs in J&K today
“A delegation from Pantha Chowk-mosque & mohalla committees-informed me with concern ‘wine shops are being shifted to residential areas’. Authorities should realise J&K is a Muslim-majority region. Liquor is haram for us. Our religious sentiments are being hurt,” @MirwaizKashmir
Hiding behind cheap attacks which have nothing to do with the issues being raised @sakinaitoo this is the future of our youth that you've always refused to take accountability for. How long will the @JKNC_ keep up with these scams just to benefit those close to them?

@ZuhaibYousf interaction with residents at Balhama, Srinagar, reflected a people centric approach to politics. Listening to public concerns and engaging directly with the community is essential for effective and meaningful change.

For the 8th consecutive year since August 2019, the mandatory Eid prayers—Eid ul Fitr & Eid ul Azha—, Shab e Qadr & Shab e Bara’at congregations have been disallowed in Srinagar’s historic Jama Masjid, central mosque, and Eidgah. This hits different. Hurts, says @MirwaizKashmir
May Allah (SWT) accept our prayers, ease the suffering of the oppressed everywhere, and bring a day very soon where the children of Gaza can celebrate Eid in true peace, freedom, and joy.
Eid Mubarak to the Ummah, and a deeply blessed, protected Eid to Gaza.
A mature society acknowledges every tragedy, not just convenient ones. Appreciating this young leader for raising the issue and giving voice to a chapter many tried to silence.
In the 1940s, late Sheikh Abdullah felt threatened by the rise & growing stature of Choudhary Ghulam Abbas. The Sheikh remained silent on the Jammu Massacre, in which as per London Spectator & Times London, 2,37,000 Muslims were massacred. The demography of Jammu was altered within three weeks. Sheikh sahib maintained criminal silence. On Jammu’s atrocities, Farooq Abdullah too has maintained silence during his stints as CM. Now that a politically motivated demolition drive has been orchestrated in Sidra, Jammu, the sitting CM Omar Abdullah is in London. For the bloodshed in Jammu, demolition in Jammu, dispossession in Jammu, the NC has always been a mute spectator!

Those protesting today & those executing it , both are sitting in different yet essential corridors of power. The irony is who is protesting against whom, remains a mystery, in a convoluted polity of J&K .

In the middle of a public outreach programme in Dalgate, the inverter light went out , a cruel reminder of the reality people are living with. This household has been without electricity for almost 6 months. Six months of darkness, uncertainty and helplessness, while those in power continue to deliver speeches and photo-ops.
The much-hyped “One Time Settlement” promise made by the @JKNC_ in its manifesto is turning out to be one of the biggest betrayals of public trust. People voted with hope, believing relief would finally come to families crushed under mounting electricity bills and economic distress. Instead, they have been handed excuses, arrogance and complete indifference.
On one hand, families are battling unemployment, inflation and an unprecedented economic crisis. On the other, they are burdened with shockingly high electricity bills despite erratic supply and prolonged outages.

Another day, another burden.
Looks like the only thing moving fast in J&K is the burden on common people.
Run marathons outside, hike fares back home because for this government, public pain is not a crisis but another statistic.
This picture from J&K Assembly says it all. NC MLAs raising their hands to reject a reservation bill moved by their own party MLA. For Open Merit, this is a clear betrayal by the NC @ahsanpardesi sb your support in this shameful act will be remembered.
