Today marks the thirteenth day of continuous strikes and protests across Iran. This is not the first time the people of Iran have risen up. Over the past decades, similar uprisings have happened again and again, all rooted in the same core demands: dignity, freedom, and liberation from an authoritarian and dictatorial system.

These protests are explicitly against the regime and the ruling system. The current wave has grown out of widespread anger over the lack of welfare, systemic inequality, and the absence of fundamental freedoms.

Last night, millions of people across Iran, in both small towns and major cities, took to the streets. People from different political backgrounds, beliefs, and generations stood side by side, united by one shared demand: an end to the Islamic Republic.

In response, the government shut down the internet.
Since last night, internet access has been severely disrupted, and at times even mobile phone networks have been cut off.

At the same time, there are growing reports that the state’s repression machinery has been fully activated. In recent days, particularly yesterday and the day before, violent crackdowns had already begun in smaller cities. More than twenty people have reportedly been killed.

For Iranians, an internet shutdown is deeply alarming. This has happened before. We know that when communication is cut, large scale human rights violations often follow: repression intensifies, killings increase, and documenting the truth becomes nearly impossible.

If you believe in freedom;
If you believe in human rights;
You cannot stay silent about Iran.
Please speak up. Silence only enables oppression.
