and he knew it. he could feel them.
he’d been a flower once. immobile, rooted in one place. it was in a vast open field, where nothing else existed but grass, other wildflowers, and insects. somewhere out in the field, he could sense his lover.
but he had no way of seeing them.
“fuck, that hurt.”
he was laying on someone’s chest, their arms wrapped around him. blinking, he unsteadily placed his hands on the ground and lifted himself, and gazed down at his savior.
a man with a beautiful smile.
“are ya doin’ alright?”
kiyoomi nodded slowly.
“good.”
perhaps the universe was telling him that they were ever only destined to meet once. but if so, why would they continue to dance around each other, even if unable to connect again?
and so, kiyoomi waited.
as he died and came back to life in various forms, his lover did the same
it was never guaranteed that they would meet again. once reality existed once more, their short time together ended. it should have been insignificant enough to forget.
kiyoomi always felt his lover’s presence in every lifetime. yet they never once crossed paths.
kiyoomi bid farewell to his lover a long, long time ago.
they met at the end of their world, when two galaxies collided. they met as tiny dust particles, dancing around one another as everything they ever knew destroyed and created itself once more.
he thought he was gone.

who was it that kept appearing in kiyoomi’s dreams? always on the peripherals of his vision, never overstepping an invisible line. the only indication of their presence is a shadow.
it scares him. are his dreams nightmares in disguise?
@jasmintea86 thank you for reading and enjoying! and for bringing this back to my life! 😊 it was so fun to write, i love writing letters, even if it’s just for myself :’)
Spent half of my work day (uh, I really should not) reading this softness and it was so great! Such a comfort read and penpalling always gets to me as I've been doing that most of my life! <3
walking through empty streets at night used to scare kiyoomi. he’d brace himself for whatever is around the corners of buildings, prepare his route if someone jumped out of the shadows of alleys.
now, walking in the dark is comforting. nothing scares him when atsumu is there.
and so he walks taller, hands loosely placed in his hoodie’s pockets. he learns to relax, allowing his ears to be a permanent listener to his partner’s ramblings.
their silly bickering fill the emptiness of the air. when they fall silent, it’s peaceful.
hey i’m alive! haven’t wanted to write much sadly. thanks to everyone who made last summer extremely fun. i’ll be on and off, i don’t come on here a lot anymore. my ao3 will always be up. i’ll update if i post on there again
his body jolts on his bed, waking his bed partner.
“what? what?” atsumu sits up, hair standing in strange directions. his eyes are still half closed. “what’s goin’ on?”
kiyoomi groans, twisting to rest on his stomach and burying his head under his pillow.
