One of the paradoxes of Trump's conception of the presidency: he somehow requires absolute and unchecked power, but also seems to think of himself as a passive, tut-tutting observer when the government over which he has that absolute power fails in any way.
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t want a bunch of “aww shucks, we all make mistakes and show up drunk and cheat on our wives” deadbeats in Washington. Sure, you can seek forgiveness and understanding—but we don’t have to let you run the military.
Believe it or not, we actually do have Grade-A ass kickers in this country who aced every test—moral and physical. Who do not excuse their own failures because they simply don’t permit this kind of sloppiness in their own behavior to begin with. They are just flat-out better than people like Mullin and Hegseth—stronger, tougher, more upstanding. There isn’t an equivalence.
That’s who the US deserves in these positions, because we have those people—lots of them. But the circus in Washington causes them to run as far away from that place as possible. So we get clowns like Hegseth and Mullin and the rest saying things like: “Now come on, we all show up drunk! Live a little and loosen up!”
This is what decline looks like—constant excuses for failing to clear the bar for excellence.
Sen. DURBIN: Are you undocumented?
DACA recipient: Yes… I came from civil unrest … I was 7 years old.
Durbin: What do you do today?
DACA recipient: I’m a prosecutor.
Durbin: This man for a living is prosecuting criminals.

First of all, an elected official threatening to silence a student newspaper is a violation of the First Amendment.
Also, the @idsnews is self-funded, not funded through tax dollars, but I guess I wouldn't expect the Lieutenant Governor of the state to know that.
Trump never submitted a legally required ethics pledge stating that he'll avoid conflicts of interest and other ethical concerns while back in office.
Trump's transition team was required to submit that ethics plan by Oct. 1, according to the Presidential Transition Act.
As of now, Trump has made zero commitment to avoiding conflicts of interest during his presidency. https://t.co/dO6XxOWdm3
Birthright citizenship is a foundational concept in American constitutional law. It is a betrayal of the 14th Amendment to suggest otherwise or that it can be discarded with ease. We settled any doubt about this in Wong Kim Ark in 1898. We should not budge one solitary inch.
TL;DR - Trump wants to sidestep the Senate and install whomever he wants without any confirmation.
In case you haven't been listening, this is what a dictator does.
