Chain Abstraction is basically just getting started.

We've seen early demos from companies like Particle & Socket, but what will this all look like in ~9 months?

Most people don't understand what is going to happen when we combine these innovations together.

The issue with crypto today is that we are still forcing end users to do so many low level tasks in order to achieve their goals. If the regular internet forced us into a comparable UX it would look roughly like this:

1) pay $0.01 just to load website A
2) want to go to website B? Well now you have to open up AWS and tell them to transfer your connection to Google Cloud
3) wait 20 minutes
4) pay another $0.01 to load website B

I believe this all will be abstracted away from the end user experience in the next 9 months, and I can actually point out the exact technologies that will remove each of these friction points.

The technologies this will involve are:
- Alternative Data Availability Networks
- Account Abstraction
- Interoperability
- Intents / Solvers

Let’s walk through each of these giving a 1 line overview of “what is it” and “how will this improve UX”

Alternative Data Availability Networks

What is it? A new type of network focused specifically on making the latest transactions from other chains accessible to everybody at low cost.

UX++? The real value add here is price. Using these makes transactions orders of magnitude cheaper. Loading websites now costs $0.0001 instead of $0.01.

Account Abstraction

What is it? A way to make paying for transactions more flexible, specifically a way for other people to pay for your blockchain transactions for you.

UX++? Sure going from $0.01 to $0.0001 is nice, but still annoying to pay, no? Well the cool thing is that at this price point developers are just going to pay that cost for you. This means you won’t need to go buy some gas from Coinbase, set up a new wallet, send from CB to your wallet, etc. etc.

If you don’t believe me think about what happens in the normal internet. It costs money to run websites, right? This new price point is comparable to what developers pay cloud companies today just to load websites for you, so they are just going to add it to their AWS bill.

Interoperability

What is it? A way for one blockchain to send a message to another blockchain.

UX++? These will become some of the most powerful networks in the industry because they simply tie all the rest together. This is what frees users to access all apps no matter which “data center” (blockchain) a website happens to be built on.

Intents / Solvers

What is it? This is more of a “design paradigm” than a specific technology. However, it mostly involves relying on trading firms to credit you small amounts of capital for brief periods of time.

UX++? Interoperability networks are slow because it takes time to securely send one message from another. Intents / Solvers makes interoperability appear instantaneous to the end user.

Ok, so we started with:

1) pay $0.01 just to load website A
2) want to go to website B? Well now you have to open up AWS and tell them to transfer your connection to Google Cloud
3) wait 20 minutes
4) pay another $0.01 to load website B

And by combining these 4 technologies we have made the following experience possible:

1) load website A
2) load website B

Each of these are at varying points in their technological maturation. I believe we will see the first large scale synergies across them all in roughly 6-9 months.

Once the first 1-3 apps demonstrate this experience end to end the industry will never look back.
