@panda_gongjunim Happened to my mom. At 38. I’m 38 now, and hope I’m in the clear.
Heard a story in college of a student a few years before me who developed schizophrenia in the days following a dorm floor viewing of The Truman Show 😳
@BowTiedPhys I was in a campus leadership position in college. A dean served as our program mentor. He taught three things to bond w/every person in our dorm: make eye contact, greet w/their name, and initiate touch/handshake. Daily. It taught me so much about people, and I will never forget.
@AshFarms If at all/when possible, I highly recommend reading a whole book at a time. Maybe not in a single sitting, but within the same day. Much easier to “feel” the structure of the book when it’s not parsed into smaller sections. The structure is intentional (both human *and* divine).
@vocalcry 5:00 AM and I was running on maybe four hours of sleep. I just let the flight stewardess come and handle the situation. Didn’t say a word the entire time until the stewardess pointed out my mistake. I apologized and the lady didn’t say anything response. Could have ended
@BritHugoboom@sher12331 Not a series but I’ve never forgotten The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton. Also, Amelia Bedelia made me howl with laughter as a kid.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox They left for awhile and eventually came back to the podium and told me, “We are going to let you through.” I found my gate as quickly as I could, boarded, and zonked out the second my butt hit the seat. Woke up as we were lifting off and got to see the coastline and rising sun.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox group I had traveled with). So that was one red flag right there; add in the characteristics: single adult male, and I’m sure they thought I had been radicalized. I had been up for 24 hours (woke up in Amman around 4:00 AM). I was completely exhausted, hungry, and near tears.
@yschlussel@mamashelly76@MichaelRapaport Bevakasha = please (x50 in that short clip). I only know enough Hebrew to be polite, and maybe then some. I can’t unhear it in his pleading; if you listen again, you won’t be able to either. A polite word in any other context is welcome…this one is heartbreaking. Am Yisrael Chai
@JamesAFurey I used to teach and had nowhere to send disruptive students; and teaching in a very small district meant two disruptive students could upend class for the rest of the day for the other six. All I could do—call parents at the end of the day, and most of them weren’t responsive.
@JamesAFurey I can recall a few times when a kid would be sent to detention even before the bell for the new class period rang. Some of them shaped up quickly, but usually the suspension room always had the same handful of kids.
