✍️ We aren't getting bullied anymore. We have outdueled every single team we have faced this season in the league and outrun five of the seven teams we have faced. We are in solid physical shape this season.
We have fixed our biggest issues from last season: poor athleticism and physicality. On top of that, we have tested ourselves against the most physical teams in the league, Arsenal and Brentford. It is unbelievable how Alonso sat down with the club and fixed most of our issues in one window, from experience to physicality, pace, and athleticism.
It is an outstanding piece of work that is currently underrated. Give Alonso January and next summer and we will challenge for the Premier League next season. I don't want to be too optimistic, but I can't help it.
Our summer market was hit after hit after hit. So, one thing is already certain: his player ID is top, he knows what he wants, and he is backed by the club, who will have more confidence in his ability in the market. I don’t expect him ro make many mistakes and will not need five windows to fix this squad.
We are lucky to have Xabi.
Fabrizio Romano said that Chelsea maintain a genuine interest in Alex Scott and are in regular contact with his representatives.
I think it is obvious now that he is our number one target; the likes of Camara are an afterthought.
Do not let SofaScore or FotMob lineups deceive you; we have played 4-4-2 in back-to-back games now, not three at the back.
Acheampong is the RB, Hato is the LB, Neto is the RW, and Rogers is the LW, with Joao and Cole as split strikers.
Caicedo and Henderson, plus the willingness of Joao and Cole to defend, make it work.
Four league games is nowhere near enough to judge Xabi Alonso.
At Leverkusen, his first six games brought one win. His first real Bundesliga winning run started a month after he arrived. Chelsea fans demanding certainty after 360 league minutes are demanding fantasy.👇
Arteta took over Arsenal in December 2019 and did not get them back into the Champions League until 2023. Klopp arrived at Liverpool in October 2015 and needed nearly five years to win the league. Guardiola inherited an elite City squad in 2016 and still needed his second season to become champion.
Good managers need time to teach ideas, learn the squad and get players who fit them. Alonso has had four league games and one summer window, with key midfield options already missing.
If Chelsea panic every time a new project hits turbulence, we will keep restarting before anything has time to grow.
Give Alonso a season, preferably two, and at least two transfer windows shaped around what he actually needs. Then judge him properly.
I wonder how these Enzo fans in our fanbase will feel with this new information today.
The boy just knows how to burn bridges; he is a top, top player but has a strange personality.
He's a player I rated and wanted at Chelsea even before we signed him, but what I don't take from any player is "selfishness". His interviews last season screamed someone that cared only about his own glory and not about the club or his teammates. And he was a vice captain.
I don't know about you but for me, that's unacceptable.
