@GeekyMeerkat@chernovlosya hey i don’t claim to be religious myself and the original post was simply “God cannot exist if there is suffering”. i think there can be an omnipresent all-loving God and there still be “suffering” because even the worst parts of human experience pale GREATLY on an eternal scale
@GeekyMeerkat@chernovlosya differently to us. if your 14 year old child gets into a relationship and you know it’ll probably end in heartbreak (suffering) do you not love them if you don’t intervene? if we extrapolate that dynamic to ETERNITY, eternal pleasure vs punishment, it does align
@GeekyMeerkat@chernovlosya the question was if god EXISTS then why is there suffering. i think we can’t comprehend the scale of omnipotence as mortal beings, just like an ant can’t comprehend the scale of humans. love at that scale (equally claims to love every human in existence) might react to suffering-
@GeekyMeerkat@chernovlosya the Christian god loves everyone that’s why there’s paradise waiting for all that accept him same with 99% of religions there’s a premise of reward and punishment and they typically greatly outweigh worldly pleasure or punishment
@BumpyBrady@chernovlosya i think its insignificant in the grand scheme of eternal life. i think as bad as cancer, hurricanes and every other disaster may be, an eternal afterlife outweighs any of that so is not a matter of choosing
@chernovlosya get out of bed and save like ten thousand ants would you still do it? knowing the number of lives you’d save? realistically not, which is the scale at which i think God (an omnipotent omniscient being) operates at, so all religion works on the basis of its followers having faith
@chernovlosya “bad things” worldly are incomprehensibly small at the scale that religion works at. when we’re discussing eternal paradise/hellfire i feel like even the worst of what we experience on earth pale in comparison. its like if there was an anthill on fire down the road and you could-
@CronusCassie @zakfilm being born as a member of a race which is objectively and explicitly considered superior to another gives you a moral obligation to either voice against that disparity or accept your privilege. you can’t reap the benefits and not bear the responsibility
@RLQFK163236@blackteacookies When “white leftists” insult christianity
1) they’re implicitly insulting islam most of the time anyways
2) the entire point is that the far right abhor religious freedom (EVEN IN ISLAMIC COUNTRIES) but the wider discussion is obviously about Western civilisation.
@lutheranpeasant@Smith_Everitt its BOTH. government regulations are incentivised by GDP growth which is directly incentivised by corporate interests
now explain how you link this to communism?
