I have urged women entrepreneurs in the Kigezi sub-region to leverage Government programmes, affordable financing and digital technologies to grow competitive businesses, create jobs and contribute to Uganda’s economic transformation.
The forum attracted more than 500 participants, including women entrepreneurs, local government leaders, Members of Parliament, financial institutions, private-sector actors, development partners and other stakeholders.
I highlighted Government’s Tenfold Growth Strategy, anchored on Agro-industrialisation, Tourism, Minerals including Oil and Gas, and Science, Technology and Innovation (ATMS), as key drivers towards achieving a USD 500 billion economy by 2040.
I stressed that increased productivity, accountability and strong public-private partnerships are essential to sustaining economic growth and expanding opportunities for Ugandans.
I also commended the World Bank and other partners for supporting the USD 217 million GROW Project, which provides women entrepreneurs with affordable financing ranging from Shs 2 million to Shs 200 million at interest rates of not more than 10 percent per year.
I encouraged women to use the financing to improve productivity, adopt modern technologies, undertake value addition, maintain proper financial records, formalise their businesses and build networks that can connect them to larger local, regional and international markets.
I also called on local leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and provide the infrastructure, services and enabling environment required for women-owned enterprises to thrive.
The forum featured experiences from GROW beneficiaries, stakeholder discussions and an exhibition showcasing products and services from 30 women-led businesses, providing opportunities for networking, visibility and business linkages.
I made the call while officiating at the Kigezi Regional Business Forum under the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project, held at UNITE Kabale Campus in Kabale Municipality and organised by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU),

I received the Commonwealth Secretary General, Ms. Shirley Botchwey, this afternoon at Entebbe.
We discussed the need for Africans to unite around our common economic interests through the African Continental Free Trade Area and to trade with partners of our choice, rather than continuing to organise ourselves along colonial lines.
We also discussed a climate fund to support alternative energy sources such as solar, hydro and nuclear, as well as a youth aspirations fund to equip Africa’s young people with the skills they need. These are the issues we must address if Africa is to transform its enormous potential into prosperity.
President Yoweri Museveni has said they are on track to complete the draft of the constitution for the East African Community (EAC) political confederation by June 2028.
We’re in Valletta, Malta, representing Uganda at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, with our delegation led by our Chief Executive Officer, Ms. @JulzKagwa.
Hosted by the Malta Tourism Authority, the summit brings together tourism CEOs, ministers and industry leaders to discuss seamless travel, investment, connectivity, sustainability, talent development and public-private partnerships.
We are proud to contribute Uganda’s perspective to these conversations, strengthen international partnerships and explore opportunities that support the growth of our tourism sector.

Maama and I hosted the National Prayer Breakfast today at State House Entebbe under the theme, “Wake Up, Work Hard, Build Uganda”
First of all, I thank God for preserving the life of Maama and ensuring her steady recovery. I also reminded Ugandans that God has given each of us talents, and our duty is to multiply them through hard work and use them to build our country.
The Parable of the Talents is very clear, we must not sit on what God has given us. We must wake up, work hard and multiply our talents.
I also reminded our people that loving God means loving our neighbours. We must reject sectarianism based on tribe or religion because, when God created man, He created him in His own image.
Museveni Calls for Stronger Link Between Security and Economic Development
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on African defence leaders to recognise that national security is closely linked to economic strength, political cohesion and strategic cooperation.
Closing the inaugural African Conference of Chiefs of Defence Forces on Military Operations Other Than War at Speke Resort Munyonyo, President @KagutaMuseveni said a country cannot sustain a strong and secure defence force without a strong economy.
He urged African countries to create wealth through commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT, while expanding markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and regional integration.
The President also challenged defence forces to adapt to emerging and non-traditional security threats while contributing to peace and national development.
“Security and prosperity go together,” President Museveni emphasised.
He thanked the visiting Defence Chiefs, Intelligence Chiefs and Force Commanders for attending the conference in Uganda and wished them a good stay in the country.
