On behalf of the 12th Parliament of Uganda, I have joined the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently under way in Arusha, Tanzania.
At this historic assembly, I am accompanied by a delegation of Members of Parliament, in furtherance of our mission to strengthen the Inter-Parliamentary Union and multilateral parliamentary diplomacy.
The Assembly is hosted by the National Assembly of Tanzania and runs from 5th to 9th October 2026 at the Arusha International Conference Centre in Arusha, United Republic of #Tanzania.

Hosted South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit at State House, Nairobi. We expressed satisfaction with the strong relations between our two nations and resolved to continue opening more opportunities for trade and investment for our citizens.
Additionally, thanked President Kiir for South Sudan's participation in last week's launch of the Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu.
Commended South Sudan for the General Election to be held in December 2026. Kenya stands ready to support South Sudan in this endeavour while encouraging dialogue and consensus among all parties.
I met Dr. Abbas A. Waziri from Nigeria, at State House Entebbe. We discussed investments in cement manufacturing and minerals, as well as exporting our Ankole cattle and dairy products to Nigeria. Africa must produce, add value and trade more with itself. I welcome him.

Representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Minister @SanjayTanna444 officiated the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair at the Uganda Manufacturers Association Show Grounds in Lugogo.
Before the ceremony, Tanna toured the exhibition grounds with UMA Executive Director Dr. Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda, engaging exhibitors and manufacturers on local production, innovation and the sourcing of raw materials.
The discussions highlighted the importance of connecting Ugandan producers of raw materials with local manufacturers as the country seeks to deepen industrialisation and advance the BUBU agenda.
In his address, President Museveni emphasised value addition in sectors including agro-processing, steel, copper, fertilisers, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, automobiles and electronics. He also stressed the growing importance of knowledge and innovation in Uganda’s long-term economic transformation.
The 32nd Trade Fair showcased the increasing range of products, innovations and industrial solutions being developed by Ugandan businesses.
President Museveni called for greater investment in innovation, knowledge and value addition, describing the trade fair as a demonstration of Uganda’s ambition to become a production hub rather than a market for imported goods.
Delivering the President’s address, Tanna highlighted the need for Uganda to move from exporting raw materials to producing high-value goods through agro-processing, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, steel, fertilisers and other industries.
