Xbox CEO @asha_shar on Xbox exclusive games: "We're looking at that very closely. I think we have to be very thoughtful about each title and how we want to think about it, and learn from similar cases in the industry"
@evileboxyboo Anti consumer would be Xbox having none. Xbox console going under would be make gaming worse for everyone when Xbox is competing and competing well it makes Sony and to a lesser degree steam and Nintendo compete and push gaming on
It’s almost like exclusives matter. Cheerleading for not having some sort of exclusivity will bring the death (or best case if ms allow it a very niche) Xbox consoles. There should be at least 1 year of not 2 before they come to other platforms that includes steam. Pc + ms store
In the UK, PS5 sales fell 50% in May. It only outsold Xbox Series S/X by 400 units (which saw a 12% rise, helped by console exclusive Forza Horizon 6). Switch 2 was easily No.1 (NielsenIQ). There will be more in today's The Game Business Show/Newsletter https://t.co/BVxmMuHZBh
What we need Xbox is trust their studios that the games they build will be great. If they are great people will buy into the Xbox ecosystem through consoles, pc or cloud. Going day and date on rival platforms is safer but also dilutes the brand and is a weakness
@JBishie Just very simple. No exclusivity no reason to game on Xbox. If they come out and say at least 1 year exclusivity that is something preferable none or 2 year. Consoles are getting more expensive and will be one or the other. If all your games are elsewhere why buy
@JezCorden That gets most of it across. Would just ask them to pick a lane and communicate it clearly. Is it a platform holder or a 3rd party first. You can’t try to be both at the same time. For me you either back yourself as platform holder (pc and Xbox) or you just go proper 3rd party.
@Delta1169 Sometimes people talk to little and that causes trouble sometimes being to open cause trouble. If there was no podcast and just the conference do the talking would have been better. Nintendo and Sony don’t why should Xbox
@kidsmoove@danno_omen I don’t understand why they are cheering on the dismantling of Xbox. In a perfect world what Xbox is doing is right imo but this isn’t a perfect world and doing what they are doing is self destruction of the brand
@_Tom_Henderson_ The problem is they straddling both trying to be 1st party and platform holder and be 3rd party. Pick one lane and run with it. This halfway not really committing to both is what the issue is
I really don’t understand why people think showing logos of competing platforms is fine. If Sony or Nintendo were then fine but they don’t. All you are doing is highlighting on the biggest stage Xbox has there is that there is no point in owning an Xbox. Unless this the strategy?
@DestinLegarie We want Xbox to be successful and bring competition to Sony and Nintendo. What is the net gain in this for Xbox? Business is business and all this is pushing people to look at other platforms unless that’s Xbox’s strategy? If the others are doing then fine but they aren’t.
I thought @asha_shar was listening and hearing. This one step has put back the positive momentum. Why continue to advertise rival platforms? There is literally nothing to gain from this strategy at all unless you want people to play there instead of Xbox.
Xbox will continue to show competitive platform logos at upcoming Xbox Games Showcase.
I feel like the bare minimum expectation many had was for Xbox to really focus on their own platform at least for the time of the Showcase.

@IdleSloth84_ How to suck the momentum they were starting to build. Business is business. You don’t gain anything with this but you showcase rival consoles and rival storefronts.
@JezCorden Somewhat disagree as they need all games and high profile games should look after themselves. If helix/xbox are going pc then they need to get the “boring games”. Idle, clickers, simulators, rogue likes. It’s the games pc players play. Vanity vs sanity games.
