Left Resistance to midnight attack of Bulldozers at Jadavpur: Hundreds of CPI(M) and Left Front activists and hawkers united in resistance last night at Jadavpur, Kolkata, against the bulldozer eviction of hawkers without rehabilitation. The state police under the BJP government and central forces resorted to a brutal lathi-charge on protesters. CPI(M) Central Committee member Sujan Chakraborty was assaulted and suffered injuries, as did SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharyya and five other comrades who were arrested. Several other comrades were injured in the lathi-charge. Fearless women including AIDWA State Secretary Monalisa stopped the bulldozer in its tracks. The struggle against anti-people evictions and repression continues.
